Ado Council Boss Honours Late Community Icon, Hails Chief Obande’s Legacy of Service and Integrity

The Executive Chairman of Ado Local Government Area of Benue State, Engr. Sunny Oche, has paid glowing tribute to the late Chief Alfred Ogaba Isenyo Obande (Ogaba-Eka), describing him as a distinguished patriot, elder statesman and community leader whose lifetime of selfless service and integrity left an enduring legacy for future generations.

Oche, who joined family members, traditional rulers, political leaders, government officials and sympathisers at the funeral ceremony in Igumale on Friday, said the passing of the former Supervisory Councillor marked the loss of one of Ado Local Government’s most respected elders and committed community builders.

The tribute was contained in a statement issued by the Ado Local Government Council and signed by the Special Adviser to the Executive Chairman on Media and Digital Communication, Mr. Alex Ogbanje, on July 25, 2026.

Speaking during the funeral rites, the council chairman described the late Chief Obande as a man of honour, wisdom and unwavering commitment to the unity and development of his community.

According to Oche, the deceased lived a life defined by dignity, responsibility and dedicated public service, earning the admiration and respect of people across Ado Local Government and beyond.

“Chief Alfred Ogaba Isenyo Obande was a distinguished patriot, a man of honour, wisdom and unwavering commitment to the growth and unity of his community. His life was defined by dignity, selfless service and a deep sense of responsibility, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations,” the chairman said.

He recalled his earlier condolence message to the Obande family, reiterating that Ado Local Government had lost one of its finest sons whose contributions to community development would not be forgotten.

Engr. Oche also extended his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family, particularly Prince Omoi Obande, the entire Obande Dynasty, and Hon. Halimat Ogaba, Special Adviser to the Chairman, praying for divine comfort and strength to bear the loss.

“May Almighty God grant the family the strength, comfort and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. We urge them to find solace in the remarkable life Chief Obande lived and the enduring values he imparted to his family, community and all who knew him,” he said.

The chairman further prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased, asking God to grant him eternal rest.

The funeral attracted several prominent personalities, including the Member representing Okpokwu State Constituency and APC candidate for Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Anthony Attah Agom, JP; APC Benue South Senatorial candidate, Hon. Francis Ottah Agbo; the Leader of the Ado Legislative Council, Hon. Agbo Adadu; councillors, political appointees, traditional rulers, party leaders and other government officials who gathered to celebrate the life and contributions of the late elder statesman.

The Ado Local Government Council reaffirmed its condolences to the Obande family, expressing confidence that the cherished memories and exemplary legacy of Chief Alfred Ogaba Isenyo Obande would continue to inspire the people of Ado and generations yet unborn. It also prayed that his soul would rest in perfect peace.
