The Federal Government has called for stronger collaboration between government and professional institutions as part of efforts to build a more resilient, competitive and sustainable economy capable of delivering long-term prosperity for Nigerians.

The call was made by the Permanent Secretary, Special Duties, Federal Ministry of Finance, Mr. Mohammed Sanusi Danjuma, during a meeting with the leadership of the Nigerian Institute of Architects International Integrated Research for Development Conference Programmes (NIA IINFRADCO) in Abuja.

The position was contained in a press statement issued by the Federal Ministry of Finance and signed by the Head of Information and Public Relations, Mr. Efe Ovuakporie, on 30 July 2026.

Speaking at the meeting, Danjuma said the Federal Government recognises that achieving sustainable economic growth requires strategic partnerships that harness professional expertise, innovation and institutional capacity to address national development challenges.

He noted that professional bodies have a significant role to play in shaping public policies, strengthening human capital, promoting innovation and supporting infrastructure development that creates lasting value for citizens.

“The Federal Government recognises that achieving sustainable economic growth requires purposeful partnerships that harness professional expertise, innovation and institutional capacity,” Danjuma said.

The Permanent Secretary described NIA IINFRADCO as a forward-looking institution whose work in research, capacity development and professional excellence aligns with the Federal Government’s economic diversification agenda, which seeks to improve productivity and promote inclusive growth.

According to him, the Ministry of Finance will continue to encourage meaningful engagement with institutions capable of providing practical solutions to Nigeria’s development priorities.

He urged the Institute to sustain its commitment to innovation and professional development while strengthening collaboration with government and other stakeholders to unlock new opportunities for investment, enterprise development, job creation and sustainable infrastructure delivery.

“Strategic partnerships remain indispensable to building an economy that is stronger, more competitive and better positioned to meet the aspirations of present and future generations,” he stated.

Earlier, the Chairman of NIA IINFRADCO, Arc. M. B. Bello, reaffirmed the Institute’s commitment to promoting professional excellence through research, executive education, consultancy, innovation and capacity development to support sustainable national development.

Bello explained that the Institute was established to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and professional practice by equipping architects and other built-environment professionals with the skills required to respond to emerging industry demands.

He stressed that stronger collaboration among government, the private sector, academic institutions and development partners remains essential for achieving sustainable infrastructure development and economic growth.

“The Institute is positioning itself as a centre of excellence in architectural education, research and professional development, with programmes focused on certification, policy advocacy, executive training and consultancy to strengthen the built environment sector,” Bello said.

He expressed confidence that sustained collaboration with the Federal Government and other critical stakeholders would enhance innovation, improve infrastructure delivery and contribute significantly to Nigeria’s long-term economic transformation.

The meeting underscored the Federal Government’s commitment to leveraging partnerships with professional institutions as part of broader efforts to accelerate economic reforms, strengthen infrastructure development and achieve sustainable national growth.
