NASENI Trains Women in Solar Technology to Expand Clean Energy Access in Kano

The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has completed the training of women in solar installation, maintenance, and repairs under the renewable energy component of the NASENI Sustainable Empowerment Programme (NSEP) in Kumbotso and Tarauni Local Government Areas of Kano State.
Speaking on the initiative, the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NASENI, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, said the programme was designed to address practical community needs while creating sustainable economic opportunities for women.
He explained that in many communities, some households are more comfortable receiving technical support from female technicians, making the initiative both socially responsive and economically impactful.
According to Halilu, the beneficiaries have been equipped with practical skills that will enable them to provide solar installation and maintenance services, promote the adoption of clean energy solutions, and earn sustainable livelihoods within their communities.
He reaffirmed NASENI’s commitment to developing local technical capacity and ensuring that innovation translates into real economic value for Nigerians.
The training forms part of NASENI’s broader efforts under the NASENI Sustainable Empowerment Programme (NSEP) to empower Nigerians with market-relevant skills, expand access to renewable energy, and support the country’s clean energy transition.
