Yari to Lead APC 2027 Campaign Council as DG

The State House disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday and signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, outlining the composition of the campaign council and its various directorates.
The statement said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as chairman of the council while Vice President Kashim Shettima is will act as vice chairman and APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, would serve as another Vice Chairman, Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, was named Secretary of the council. APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, and Hadiza Bala-Usman were appointed Deputy Secretary and Assistant Secretary respectively.
The council will be supported by a body of advisers comprising former Osun State Governor, Chief Bisi Akande; veteran journalist and politician, Chief Segun Osoba; Senator Rochas Okorocha; former APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu; and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were appointed Deputy Director-Generals for the southern and northern parts of the campaign. They will work with Senator Bamidele Opeyemi and Senator Jibril Barau in the two zones.
The campaign council also named Senator Adams Oshiomhole as Deputy Director-General in charge of mobilisation, while the President’s Chief of Staff will serve as Deputy Director-General for Administration.
James Abiodun Faleke, who played a key role in the APC’s 2022/2023 presidential campaign, returns as Deputy Director-General for Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring. He will work with zonal directors including Senator Olushola Adeyeye for the South-West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme for the South-South, Senator Uche Ekwunife for the South-East, Muntaqha Rabe for the North-West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso for the North-Central and Senator Sani Danladi for the North-East.
Other appointments include Muiz Adeyemi Banire as Director of the Legal Directorate, supported by Dr Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala as deputies. Prince Lateef Fagbemi, former Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shema, Worgu Boms and Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh were also listed as members of the directorate.
For media and strategic communication, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, will serve as Coordinating Director, working alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu. Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka were appointed coordinating deputy directors.
The media directorate will also have Abdulaziz AbdulAziz, Temitope Ajayi, Arabinrin Aderonke and Frederick Nwabufor as coordinating secretaries. Segun Dada returns as Director of New Media, while Solomon Arowolo will serve as Secretary, New Media.
The APC campaign has also appointed five spokespersons, led by Dele Alake, with Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda as members of the spokespersons’ team.
According to the statement, President Tinubu has charged members of the council to work tirelessly towards securing victory for the APC in the January 2027 elections. He also directed leaders of the various directorates to bring other party members into the campaign effort, even where they were not formally listed in the council.
Tinubu said the administration had delivered on its campaign promises and urged the campaign team to communicate its achievements effectively to Nigerians.
“We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress. We are definitely out of the dark tunnel and are now at the cusp of reaping the benefits of a prosperous economy that will benefit all Nigerians,” the President said.
He added that the campaign should confidently present the administration’s record while inspiring Nigerians with its vision for the future.
“As we march into the campaign season, we have many achievements to trumpet—let us confidently showcase our record and inspire hope in every corner of our nation. Let us soundly defeat all those forces who plan to take our country backwards,” Tinubu said.
