We learnt from yesterday’s devotional that Jesus’ Apostles understood the word “LORD” when they prayed to God in Acts 4: 29 – 31 as their Supreme God who they give their total loyalty and submissions to. They accepted God and His Son, Jesus Christ as their Sovereign Masters. They humbly accepted themselves as slaves under very superior Masters. They have accepted the fact that as servants, who have no other choice to live than the choices of God and Jesus Christ for them. Today’s devotional wishes that Christians who call either God or Jesus Christ “LORD” will understand that they mean calling them “Despota” meaning “Sovereign Masters or Sovereign Rulers” right from their hearts. Above all, we Christians should know that, even though Jesus Christ said He no longer calls us slaves (John 15: 15); we are still bought with His Costly Blood and Flesh, which He sacrificed for us on the Cross. For this reason, we must be totally submissive and loyal to Jesus as His earthly faithful slaves.

Biblical implication of calling either God or Jesus Christ LORD after become born again is our becoming “subservient slaves” under them. This makes us to be ready to do all things only when they have approved what we want to do. We cannot be calling God “Almighty Lord” and calling Jesus Christ the “Lord of lords” and still be doing things against their will. Anything done outside God’s or Jesus’ permission, as Christians is rebelliousness which the Bible classified as “witchcraft.” We must know therefore, that all works or rebellious acts are rewarded with God’s judgment and punishments. It is completely dangerous seeing some Christians do things obviously against Biblically approved standards, yet go about smiling and saying “Jesus Is Lord”. God and Jesus Christ expect Christians, irrespective of denominations, to submit themselves to He who has the authority in Heaven and on the earth (Matt. 28: 18). We are not expected to be involved in outright sinful living. God says we have to be holy because He our Sovereign Ruler (despota) is holy (Lev. 11: 44). Unfortunately, many Christians take this injunction very optional.

God frowned at those calling Him LORD, LORD, with emptiness (Mal. 1: 6). Jesus Christ asked a big question in Luke 6: 46: “Why do you call me Lord, Lord and do not do what I say?” Being Christians and doing all the evil things the world is doing disqualifies us from calling Jesus Christ or God “my Lord.” God does not give anyone giving Him lip service a good place in His heart. Let our calling God or Jesus “Lord, Lord, Lord” comes out of our circumcised hearts. We must know that our Sovereign Master, Jesus, watches all things we do!!

PRAYERS:

1. Lord Jesus, forgive me of all my actions taken against your prescriptions for me. Send me grace to resist sins at will as I am now ready to do your wills. Amen!

2. Jehovah Father, forgive me of all things done out of disrespect to your ordinances in Jesus name.

POSITIVE COFESSION:

Satan get lost from my life; I am cover with the umbrella of Jesus’ righteousness. Hallelujah!
