The power allocated to the tongue is not what any person can operate in it with carelessness. The Bible allocated two great functions to the power of the tongue which are “death and life” (Prov. 18: 21). It has the power to kill and has the power to give life. There is need for human beings to be careful of what to say too. Apostle Peter cautioned on the careless use of the tongue. Apostle James said the only person to be taken seriously as Christian should be one who has the power to tame his or her tongue (James 1: 26). Today’s devotional is not discussing the tongue specifically but talking on using the tongue to answer God swiftly. One of the most frequent errors human being make is answering God affirmatively with less attention to the answer given to God. This is talking of the simple phrase “Yes Lord.”

Many have answered God “Yes Lord” and soon turn back to tell God “Lord I did not mean it from my heart.” Jonah said the “Yes Lord” when he was asked to go to Nineveh but for him to go and hide under the boat. In marriages and ministerial assignments, many had said “Yes Lord” but retracted their words latter. The problem with saying “Yes Lord” to God is that He might along the line ask you to head to a more tasking assignment very uncomfortable and seemingly unsafe for someone. Most often, God sends a man or a woman who says “Yes Lord” to a place full of enemies or a place taken over by famine. Saying “Yes Lord” and refusing to carry out the mission of what the “Yes Lord” entails will not give us the blessings that follow the call from God. This is because every assignment God gives to a man or woman is attached with unseen blessing.

Certainly, there are rewards when one said “Yes Lord” and carried out the missions contained thereof, in the pronounced “Yes Lord.” We will be taking some personalities from the Bible who said to God “Yes Lord” and worked with their words to the end and see how they were rewarded by God. The readily persons on the mind of this devotional are Abraham, Sarah, Isaiah and of course, our Lord Jesus Christ. How did they say “Yes Lord?” How did they carry out the “Yes Lord?” And what were their rewards of saying “Yes Lord?” Hopefully the series if studied objectively will be a great blessing to all. SHALOM!

PRAYER:

HOLY AND ALMIGHTY FATHER, prepare my heart to digest how saying “Yes Lord” will be a great reward to my life and journey of faith here on the earth in the name of Jesus Christ.
