Political stakeholders from Effium Ward 1, Wigbeke Ward 1 and Wigbeke Ward 3 have denied the endorsement of Awo Chinedu, who is aspring to be re-elected into the Ebonyi State House of Assembly to represent Ohaukwu North Constituency after 2027 election.
In a communiqué issued and signed by Dr. James Agena and Dr. Omenka Nicodemus, Effium Town Union President and S. A the Governor on Community Development respectively and over twenty others after a recent expanded stakeholders meeting, the stakeholders completely rejected and distanced themselves from the purported endorsement of Awo Chinedu by a fraction of Ezza-Effium people.
They said there was no time that the people drawn from the three wards had ever conceived to endorse any aspirant for the position of Ohaukwu North Constituency, adding that in no distance time, the Effium people will make their position known.
The communiqué reads in part, “We, the people of Effium Community comprising the three indigenous wards of Effium Ward I, Wigbeke I and Wigbeke III respectively categorically reject and dissociate ourselves from the so-called endorsement.
“That the people of the aforementioned wards have not at any time or forum resolved to adopt or endorse any other aspirant for the position of member, Ohaukwu North State Constituency in the 2027 General elections.
“That any purported endorsement of any aspirant for the said position does not represent the position of Effium people.
“That the Effium people as a major political bloc in Ohaukwu Politics cannot continue to remain as mere observers in the political developments of Ohaukwu in particular and Ebonyi State in general.
“That we, the Effium people shall in no distant time, make known our stance as regards the 2027 General Elections.
“That the indigenous people of Effium views as obnoxious, the idea of one who is deeply implicated in the Effium crisis presenting himself for any elective position whatsoever.
They further reiterated that the Ebonyi State Government under Governor Francis Nwifuru and political parties in the state to desist from endorsing promoters of crisis in the state.
“That we urge the Government of Ebonyi State and all political parties to desist from endorsing promoters of crisis for elective positions as this would amount to a tacit reward with the potentials of derailing the ongoing peace process in Effium; a man should not be allowed to benefit from his own wrong as this would set a dangerous precedent for the future”, they said.
In a related development, the Secretary General, Effium Community Town Union, Hon Amos Akpa, has described a trending video and radio announcement purportedly endorsement Awo Chinedu as for Ohaukwu North State Constituency election, come 2027 as false, baseless, mischievous and misleading.
A statement signed by Hon Amos Akpa said, “I never made any statement in my capacity as the secretary General of Effium Town Union endorsing the candidacy of Chinedu Awo for the State House of Assembly Election, 2027 as portrayed by the audio/video clips that have gone viral on social media.
“That my allegged endorsement of Chinedu awo was a gross misrepresentation of the true position of what transpired on 22nd March, 2026 at Chinedu Awo’s House. That I have no authority or capacity whatsoever to endorse any candidate without the knowledge and consent of my people.
“That the public is hereby advised to discountenance the said radio announcement as well as video clips associating me with the purported endorsement. That I hereby tender an unreserved apology to the great indigenous people of Effium for the embarrassment caused them by my misadventure as portrayed by the video and voice clips in circulation”, he said.
