The Theatre Command of Operation HADIN KAI has dismissed viral social media claims alleging poor feeding of troops in the North-East, describing the reports as “misleading” and reaffirming that soldiers’ welfare remains a top operational priority.

The military said the allegations do not reflect realities within the theatre, insisting that structured and accountable feeding systems are in place for personnel engaged in counter-insurgency operations.

According to a statement issued by the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, and signed by Sani Uba, the clarification followed an internal review prompted by the circulation of images purportedly showing inadequate meals for troops.

The command stated that its findings revealed the content was manipulated to create a false impression.

“The images and narratives being circulated are misleading and do not reflect the actual feeding arrangements or welfare standards of troops in the North East Theatre,” the statement said.

Military authorities explained that troops across formations under Operation HADIN KAI receive rations in line with approved military feeding scales, with additional provisions during festive periods such as Sallah and Easter.

The statement further highlighted that the feeding system is overseen by internal Food Committees made up of personnel across ranks to ensure transparency and accountability.

“The system is structured, accountable, and soldier-driven, ensuring continuous oversight in menu planning, preparation, and distribution of meals,” the command noted.

The Theatre Command disclosed that investigations traced one of the viral images to a serving personnel who allegedly shared a partially consumed meal to misrepresent conditions.

“The image did not represent the complete ration issued at the time,” the military said, adding that the individual has since been sanctioned in line with the Armed Forces Act.

Reaffirming its commitment to troop welfare, the command acknowledged the logistical challenges of operating in conflict zones but insisted that consistent efforts are made to ensure adequate care for personnel.

“The welfare of troops remains a top priority… even under demanding field conditions,” the statement added.

The military also urged soldiers to channel grievances through internal mechanisms rather than public platforms, warning that misinformation could undermine morale and national security efforts.

It called on the public to disregard unverified reports and rely on official sources for accurate information, stressing that ongoing operations remain focused on restoring peace, security, and stability in the North-East region.
