The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has intensified its grassroots mobilisation across the state, with the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Abiodun Samuel Idowu, declaring that the party is more prepared for an election than at any time in its history in the state.
Idowu, who is also the Chairman of Ifedayo Local Government Area, made the assertion while speaking with journalists in Osogbo on Wednesday, expressing confidence in the party’s prospects ahead of the August 15th off-cycle governorship election.
According to him, the APC has strengthened its structures across the state’s 30 local government areas and 332 wards, with party members and stakeholders fully mobilised at the grassroots.
“In the history of Osun State, this is the first time we are this over-prepared for the election,” Idowu said.
He maintained that the level of preparedness, combined with what he described as effective grassroots mobilisation, unity among party stakeholders and renewed commitment by APC leaders, has placed the party in a strong position to win the governorship.
“The APC stands the chance to win the Osun State governorship election,” he declared.
Idowu attributed the party’s growing strength to increased mobilisation at the grassroots and improved coordination among its leadership and supporters across the state.
He said the APC was determined to consolidate its structures and ensure that its members remain actively engaged across the 30 local government areas and 332 wards.
Appeal for Peaceful Participation
The ALGON Chairman also called on eligible voters across Osun State to participate actively in the democratic process while maintaining peace and avoiding actions capable of undermining the electoral process.
He urged voters not to be intimidated, stressing that citizens should exercise their constitutional right to vote peacefully and responsibly.
“We are telling our people to remain peaceful. Do not allow anyone to intimidate you. Your vote is your power,” he said.
Idowu further encouraged eligible voters to come out en masse and participate in the electoral process without fear, while advising them to stay away from violence and other forms of electoral misconduct.
The declaration comes as political parties continue to strengthen their grassroots structures and mobilisation networks ahead of future electoral contests in Osun State.
With local government leaders playing an increasingly prominent role in grassroots engagement, the APC leadership appears determined to deepen its presence across the state and position the party for a strong electoral showing in the 2027 political cycle.
