…Oche Administration Expands Investment in Digital Education Across Five Districts

The Executive Chairman of Ado Local Government Council, Hon. Engr. Sunny Oche, has announced the commencement of a free digital skills acquisition and emerging technology training programme for secondary school students across the five districts of Ado Local Government Area.
The programme, known as the Ado Digital Future Initiative (ADFi), is an intervention of the Ado Local Government Council designed to expose young people to practical digital skills and emerging technologies while preparing them for the opportunities and challenges of an increasingly technology-driven world.
The initiative will provide participating students with hands-on training in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics and Drone Technology, Basic Computer Operations, Web Design, Graphic Design, Content Creation, digital skills and other emerging technologies.
The programme has been duly approved by the Benue State Ministry of Education, in line with the Ministry’s recent directive concerning educational programmes and initiatives. School principals in the participating locations have also been engaged to obtain the necessary institutional cooperation and informed consent for students to participate.
The training is being conducted across the five districts of Ado Local Government Area to ensure broad geographical coverage and equitable access to the programme.

Venue: Government Secondary School, Ulayi

Speaking on the initiative, Hon. Engr. Sunny Oche said:
“As a Local Government administration, we recognise that the future of our young people will increasingly be shaped by technology, digital innovation and access to relevant skills. We therefore have a responsibility to ensure that our students in Ado are adequately exposed to these opportunities from an early stage.”
“The Ado Digital Future Initiative is part of our commitment to investing in our young people and complementing the efforts of the Governor, Fr. Hyacinth Alia, PhD, in strengthening education and preparing our children for the future. We want our students to move beyond being consumers of technology to becoming creators, innovators and problem-solvers.”
The Chairman further encouraged parents, teachers, community leaders and other stakeholders to support the initiative by encouraging students to participate actively and take full advantage of the training.
He emphasised that the programme is intended to provide students with practical exposure that can complement their formal education and potentially serve as a foundation for further learning, entrepreneurship and future career development.
The Ado Local Government Council therefore invites parents, community leaders, teachers, education stakeholders, youth organisations, technology enthusiasts, media practitioners and members of the public to support the programme and join in promoting digital literacy and innovation among young people in Ado.
The administration remains committed to initiatives that expand opportunities for the people of Ado and strengthen the foundation for a more digitally skilled and productive younger generation.
