OYEDELE ARRIVES BANGKOK TO LEAD NIGERIA’S DELEGATION TO IMF/WORLD BANK ANNUAL MEETINGS

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, has arrived in Bangkok, Thailand, to lead Nigeria’s delegation to the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group, scheduled for October 12 to 18.

 

The development was announced in a press release issued by the Federal Ministry of Finance on October 11, 2026, and signed by Efe Ovuakporie, Head of the Information and Public Relations Unit.

The annual meetings will bring together finance ministers, central bank governors, development partners and other global economic decision-makers to deliberate on international economic developments, financing priorities and strategies for sustainable growth.

 

Oyedele’s participation comes as Nigeria continues efforts to strengthen macroeconomic stability, attract investment and ensure that ongoing economic reforms translate into increased productive activities, expanded business opportunities and job creation.

According to the ministry, the meetings will provide Nigeria with an opportunity to engage with international financial institutions and development partners on issues relevant to the country’s economic priorities and its position in the global economy.

 

The engagements are expected to provide a platform for discussions on economic cooperation, development financing and policies aimed at promoting sustainable growth amid evolving global economic conditions.

The ministry said further details of the minister’s engagements and Nigeria’s participation would be communicated as the meetings progress.
