Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has intensified his constituency development drive in Kaduna State with the foundation-laying for new education, healthcare and security facilities across Sabon Gari Local Government Area.

The Office of the Speaker disclosed this in a press statement issued on Saturday, October 31, 2026, and signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, following the groundbreaking ceremonies conducted by Abbas, who represents Zaria Federal Constituency.

The projects include a new secondary school at Saidu Primary School in Samaru, a National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) study centre, a diagnostic centre at Isa Chikaji Primary Healthcare Centre, a 20-bed primary healthcare facility at Zangon Dan Borno in Dogarawa, and a police station under the Zaria Area Command of the Nigeria Police Force.

The education component features a secondary school with 10 classrooms, offices and toilet facilities, alongside the proposed NOUN study centre, aimed at expanding access to secondary and tertiary education within the area.

In healthcare, the Speaker facilitated the construction of a diagnostic centre at Isa Chikaji Primary Healthcare Centre and a 20-bed facility at Zangon Dan Borno to improve access to basic medical services and reduce the burden on residents seeking treatment.

The security intervention involves the construction of a police station within Sabon Gari under the Zaria Area Command, in a move expected to strengthen local policing and improve public safety.

Addressing residents at the ceremonies, Abbas said the projects were designed to respond to practical needs in education, healthcare and community security.

“A child entering Saidu Primary School should find a classroom that makes learning possible. A mother seeking treatment in Chikaji should receive a diagnosis without an exhausting journey. A young person in Dogarawa should have somewhere to learn, sit for an examination, and pursue a qualification,” he said.

The Speaker stressed that the success of the projects would depend on their timely and proper completion, warning that groundbreaking ceremonies must translate into functional facilities.

“But let us be clear. A groundbreaking begins an obligation. It does not discharge it. The ceremony ends today. The responsibility continues tomorrow,” Abbas stated.

He also disclosed that the wider constituency development programme included a youth development centre, stressing that its impact would be measured by the opportunities it creates for young people.

According to him, “training must connect to work. Skills must connect to enterprise. Talent must find a practical outlet.”

Abbas further listed ongoing and proposed projects requiring sustained attention, including the 320-bed male and female hostel at the Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology (NILEST), renovation of Aminu Primary School, runway extension at the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), and faculty buildings at Ahmadu Bello University’s main campus and Faculty of Social Sciences.

He said projects identified under the 2026 budget also included a new terminal and runway for commercial flights at NCAT, a library, rural market, mega town hall, upgraded polo field, reconstructed township stadium and road projects.

Reaffirming his commitment to project delivery, the Speaker said: “We will finish what we have started. Finish it properly. Finish it safely. Finish it for the people who need it.”

He added that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda would only become meaningful when its promises translated into improved access to education, dependable healthcare and opportunities for enterprise at the community level.

“Facilitating a project carries a duty to follow it through. I accept that duty,” Abbas said.
