PRESS RELEASE: ADO LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL COMMENDS GOVERNOR ALIA AND CHAIRMAN SUNNY OCHE DURING OVERSIGHT INSPECTION OF GENERAL HOSPITAL ROAD PROJECT, IGUMALE

3 November 2026

The Ado Legislative Council, led by its House Leader, Hon. Agbo Adadu, has commended the Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia, and the Executive Chairman of Ado Local Government Area, Hon. Engr. Sunny Oche, for their collaborative efforts towards infrastructural development in the Local Government Area.

The commendation was made during an oversight inspection of the ongoing construction of the General Hospital Road in Igumale by the House Leader and other members of the Ado Legislative Council. The exercise formed part of the Council’s constitutional oversight responsibilities and its commitment to monitoring public projects, assessing implementation standards and ensuring that government interventions translate into tangible benefits for the people.

The General Hospital Road project is one of the notable outcomes of the collaborative infrastructure development initiative of the Benue State Government and the Ado Local Government Council. It reflects Governor Alia’s commitment to extending development to all parts of the state, while demonstrating the proactive leadership of the Ado Council Chairman in ensuring that such interventions are strategically localised to address the infrastructural needs and priorities of communities within the Local Government Area.

The 5-kilometre rural road intervention is an initiative of Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, PhD, designed to provide road infrastructure across the 23 Local Government Areas of Benue State through a partnership between the State and Local Governments. While the Governor provided the statewide policy direction and initiative, the Ado Local Government Chairman, Hon. Engr. Sunny Oche, has the direct responsibility of determining the local distribution, allocation and strategic location of the projects within Ado LGA. This arrangement ensures that the intervention is not merely implemented as a statewide programme but is deliberately channelled towards addressing identified infrastructural needs and opening up communities across the Local Government Area.

Speaking during the inspection, Hon. Agbo Adadu expressed profound appreciation to Governor Alia for his administration’s commitment to grassroots development and for prioritising infrastructure that directly impacts the lives and economic activities of the people. He equally acknowledged the leadership of Chairman Sunny Oche for his deliberate efforts in attracting, facilitating and ensuring the appropriate localisation of development projects within Ado LGA.

The House Leader particularly commended Governor Alia for the ongoing construction of the approximately 35-Kilometer Igumale–Agila Road, describing it as a landmark infrastructural intervention that will substantially improve transportation, strengthen connectivity between communities, stimulate commercial activities and enhance the overall economic prospects of the area.

He noted that the General Hospital Road project represents another important milestone in the administration’s commitment to infrastructural renewal in Ado LGA. According to him, the strategic importance of the road extends beyond access to the General Hospital, as it also covers adjoining areas leading towards the Governor’s Lodge, thereby improving accessibility and the general outlook of the Igumale district.

Hon. Adadu further explained that the project is designed to meet acceptable engineering and infrastructural standards, with appropriate drainage facilities incorporated to ensure effective water management, road durability and long term sustainability. He emphasised that the objective is not simply to provide a motorable road but to deliver enduring infrastructure that will serve residents, facilitate access to essential public facilities and contribute to the orderly development of the area.

The House Leader also acknowledged the importance of the working relationship between the State Government and the Ado Local Government Council, noting that the effective implementation of development initiatives requires not only visionary leadership at the state level but also responsible coordination and strategic execution at the local level. He commended Chairman Sunny Oche for providing the necessary local leadership in translating the Governor’s development agenda into projects that respond to the peculiar needs of communities in Ado.

On behalf of the Ado Legislative Council, he called on the people of Igumale district and the entire Ado Local Government Area to sustain their support for the administrations of Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia and Chairman Sunny Oche. He urged residents to embrace peace, unity and collective responsibility, stressing that meaningful development thrives in an atmosphere of cooperation, mutual understanding and a shared commitment to the common good.

He reaffirmed that the Ado Legislative Council remains committed to working in partnership with the State Government and the Ado Local Government Executive to advance infrastructural development, improve access to essential services and make Ado a more accessible, prosperous and developed Local Government Area.
