10th NASS: Abbas Remains APC Choice For Speakership

This was revealed yesterday by President Bola Tinubu at the presidential villa while holding meeting with other aspirants gunning for the 10th Assembly Speakership.

 

A source from the villa who spoke to panafricreport anonymously  said the president has appealed to other aspirants to pull down from the race and declare support for Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, insists  Abbas remains his party’s (APC) choice for the 10th Assembly Speaker.

The President who  established the need to consolidate the party’s choice for Hon. Abbas also appeal to aspirants on the  need for APC to go into the NASS election as a united force.

A source at APC national secretariat has also said that the party has no plan or intention of withdrawing the party’s endorsement of the dou of Abbas/Kalu 10th National Assembly Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively.

He also describes fake any news reporting otherwise, says peddlers and conveyor of such otherwise report are in the dream Land under the figment of their emotional mirages which he said the conveyors and their co-traveller will wake up to the reality on 13th June,2023 when the assembly will convene for the election of the principal officers.

He also note that party is supreme, besides, the party is not a dog to go back on its vomit; enjoins member-elect to be weary of falsehoods and their peddlers as desperate politicians especially aspirant whose chances are dead will resort to peddling falsehood.

A member-elect who spoke to our reporter said ” the choice of Abbas over others beyond politics is to consolidate the gains of the 9th Assembly and to creat the needed stability upon which the requisite executive-legislative relation  to engenda the execution of the “Renewed Hope Agenda” by the Tinubu/Shettima presidency will be birthed. Hence, the former senator turned  president with  vast knowledge and experience of the working of the legislature and it impact on the efficiency and effectiveness of the executive especially when it becomes parallel to executive agenda for the shared dream of nation building will not stand on the fence on issue pertaining to the leadership of NASS.

The party and Mr. President, Tinubu will not  substitute   Abbas  for any, members-elect and the general public should  disregard any  report or news  peddling review of Speakership zoning,  Abbas endorsement and or possibly  replacement, he said.

Speaking shortly after his victory at the party primaries, Kama expressed excitement and gratitude to party stakeholders, supporters and the state leadership for giving him another opportunity to serve. “I’m elated and very happy for being given another opportunity to serve my people. I’m grateful to all the stakeholders, our leaders, our constituents and most importantly our governor who stood by us throughout the process. Above all, I thank God for giving us this opportunity to serve again.” The lawmaker described the turnout and mobilisation witnessed during the primaries as only a glimpse of what to expect during the general elections. “This is nothing compared to what will happen during the general election,” Kama stated confidently. “This is just a piece of cake for what is going to happen during the election proper.” Kama assured constituents that his second term would usher in greater development and more opportunities for the constituency. According to him, his return to the National Assembly would strengthen the constituency’s chances of attracting more federal projects and benefits, especially as a ranking member of the House. “More development and more ability to attract goodies to our constituency is what our people should expect,” he said. “We have only done one budget, and now we are preparing for the second budget cycle. We’ll revisit communities we promised projects and ensure we fulfil those promises before moving forward.” He added that retaining experienced lawmakers was crucial to securing greater influence and benefits for the constituency. “A ranking member is a ranking member; you can’t buy that in the market,” he noted. “I believe our governor, being a former parliamentarian, understands the importance of having ranking lawmakers who can attract more development to the constituency.” Also speaking after the primaries, Ebonyi State Commissioner for ICT, Tochukwu Okorie, said the massive turnout and patience of party supporters reflected the confidence of the people in the APC. “I align myself with the feelings of my people.When you look at the crowd and the fact that they have waited here since morning, it shows they are happy and satisfied with the party.”, he said. Reacting to questions about possible opposition challenges ahead of the general election, the commissioner dismissed fears, insisting the APC remained firmly rooted among the people. The APC primaries in the Ohanivo Federal Constituency recorded a large turnout of party faithful and supporters, setting the stage for what promises to be a keenly contested general election
