A frontline aspirant for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) senatorial seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Mrs. Amina Zanna Ibrahim fondly called AZI by his support has formally declared her intention to contest in the 2027 election to the All Progressive Congress’ National Working Committee, pledging inclusive representation, grassroots engagement, and people-focused representation.

Speaking to party leaders, stakeholders, and members of the press, Ibrahim said her ambition is anchored on “service, inclusive development, and effective representation,” unveiling a campaign vision built on “people, prosperity, and progress.”

“I hereby declare my aspiration to contest for the office of Senator representing the FCT under the APC in the 2027 election. My ambition is driven by commitment to service, inclusive development, and effective representation,” she stated.

Outlining her immediate next steps after undergoing the party’s screening process, the aspirant said her campaign has shifted into a consultation phase across the FCT.

“We are in consultations. I have returned to my ward to formally declare my intention, and in the coming days, we will be engaging with stakeholders across the area councils, including women groups, youth groups, and members of the press,” she said.

Reacting to the participation of other aspirants, often described as a political heavyweight in the FCT, Amina dismissed suggestions of intimidation.

“Not at all. I’m not threatened. I bring capacity, commitment, and experience. I have lived in Abuja for nearly 30 years; I understand the people, their challenges, and I am ready to be their voice,” she said.

In a notable appeal to party leadership, Amina urged the APC to consider zoning the FCT senatorial ticket to women, arguing that female representation is critical to inclusive governance.

“I am appealing to the leadership of our great party to reserve the FCT seat for women. We need inclusion of women and youth in governance. A man cannot fully be the voice of women—let a woman represent women,” she added.

Addressing her supporters, the aspirant called for unity and backing as she pursues the party’s ticket.

“I respectfully seek the support of party leadership, stakeholders, and members as I embark on this journey,” she said.

Dr. Mrs. Amina Ibrahim joins a growing list of aspirants jostling for the APC senatorial ticket in the FCT ahead of the 2026 general elections.

I’m grateful to all the stakeholders, our leaders, our constituents and most importantly our governor who stood by us throughout the process.
