APC Crisis: Embattled Adamu On a Speed Lane, Quits Before NEC Sack
The National Chairman of The ruling All Progressives Congress, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu is said to have tendered his resignation letter ahead of the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party rescheduled Tuesday and Wednesday 18-19 July,2023.
Feelers around the national headquarters of the party seem to confirm the above though panafric reporter is still waiting to get official statement from the national publicity secretary of the party as at the time of filing this report.
Panafricreporters has it that there have been strong indication that the NEC meeting would sack Adamu as he had reportedly fallen out of favour with many APC NWC members and party leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over the way he allegedly personalized the running of the party.
The Dream Daily Newspaper had exclusively broke the news that Adamu would be eased out as National Chairman following alleged moves by party grandees like Chief Bisi Akande towards that effect.
Recall that the APC North-West National Vice, Chairman Salihu Lukman has in a petition accused the APC National Chairman, Senator Adamu of running the party like a personal business.
Last night, a source which pleaded anonymity disclosed that Senator Adamu had sent his resignation letter to President Tinubu at Aso Rock.
Although the President is away at the African Union meeting in Kenya, the source said Adamu’s letter has been received by the office of the Chief of Staff to the President, whose occupant is Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
Adamu, the source added, resigned to avoid being embarrassed through a sack at the upcoming NEC meeting as he had received strong confirmation that signatures for his impeachment as national chairman plans were already collated.
Adamu, a former governor of Nasarawa State, is a member of the Class of ’99 Governors who were mates of President Tinubu when he was Lagos State governor between 1999 and 2007.
