DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: FEBRUARY 14 Topic: THE FAITHFULNESS OF GOD (2) Scriptures: Isaiah 55: 10 – 11; 49: 14 – 16.
We sometimes go back on our words because we are unable to do what we intended to do, we promised and failed to fulfil our promises. But God is omnipotent, He can do anything He pleases, He even controls the weather, He has no reason to be unfaithful. God is totally self-sufficient; He does not need anyone else’s approval to meet His needs. He is his own reason for everything He does.
Whatever God speaks, happens. Because He is the never changing God. Matt 24:35, His words are His bond. He will keep all His promises; He will fulfil every pronouncement concerning you. God is not a man that He should lie, or son of man ……(Num. 23:19) God is faithful in sustaining us through suffering. One of the times we are most tempted to doubt God’s faithfulness is when suffering strikes our lives. Most times, we feel that we do not deserve what God has allowed to happen to us. We would begin to think that He has forgotten us or really does not care about us. But Zion said, “…the Lord has forsaken me, and the Lord has forgotten me.” (Isa.49:14) But the Lord was right there with word of encouragement. He may allow you to suffer, but He can never forget you in your suffering because He is a faithful God. We can enjoy calmness and contentment when hard times come by doing what is right. (1Peter 4:19) “let us hold fast to the confession of hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful “(Heb. 10:23).
Prayer Points:
1. My father God, I thank you for the assurances from your words that you can never forget or forsake me. My confidence level has increased, help me to trust you more.
2. For the many times I complained and murmured, forgive me Lord.
Confession:
My God is able to fulfill all His promises concerning me, therefore, I am more than a conqueror in Jesus name.
