DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: JUNE 10 THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM IN US (1) SCRIPTURE: ISAIAH 11: 1 – 2; 1 Kings 3: 7 – 10
There are about seven designated functions of the Spirit of God pointed out by Prophet Isaiah that are upon Jesus Christ. The Spirit of Wisdom falls into number two if taken in chronological order as written. Wisdom as a word is discussed in secular books as well as the Holy Books of all religious bodies. In fact, every field of knowledge believes that wisdom is one of the powerful ingredients of living. We all need wisdom to handle issues of life. Amongst all fields of wisdom, the wisdom that comes from God is of highest value. In the Bible, we are told that “Wisdom is a principal thing” (Prov. 4: 7). We are also told that “Wisdom is profitable for direction” (Eccl. 10: 19). And in another place, we are told that “There is strength and power in wisdom (Eccl. 7: 19).”
In this devotional, we are looking at the place of the wisdom that is given to us from the Holy Spirit of God. All other wisdom is not discredited here. However, that given by the Spirit of God occupies the ultimate position in the life of Christians. Worldly wisdom makes decisions based on profits which come to individual from it. Wisdom that the Spirit of God gives contains ability of applying knowledge and understanding to life situations, through God’s own perspectives. King Solomon was talking of Spirit of God’s given wisdom when he wrote: “For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding…” (Prov. 2: 6 NIV)._ The whole world is filled with wonderful and mysterious creatures of God. The Bible says that God uses wisdom to form the foundations of them all (Prov. 3: 19).
Any Christian who wants to excel in physical and Spiritual matters has to seek for the endowments of the Spirit of Wisdom from God. King Solomon excelled in his government because he requested for Wisdom of the Spirit of God from God (1 King 3: 7- 10). God so endowed King Solomon with incredible wisdom that all men from other nations met him for instructions (1 Kings 4: 29 – 34). This shows that their earthly and academic wisdom attained could not march with that of King Solomon. At every time the world is saturated with problems seeking for solutions, God’s given Wisdom provides the solutions. The entire world has never been drenched with wickedness and insecurities as it is today. But by the Spirit of Wisdom from God, solutions will be proffered. It is an earnest prayer of this devotional that Christians tapped into this God’s given Spirit of Wisdom to help the world out of her numerous problems of this generation.
PRAYERS:
1. HOLY FATHER, grant the world leaders, religious and secular, divine wisdom to tackle the crisis in the world globally in Jesus name.
2. GREAT AUTHORS OF WISDOM, we are all lost out of solutions to our problems. But you are full of the solutions. Therefore, grant our leaders in Nigeria, your given wisdom to resolves our deadly crisis in Jesus name.
POSITIVE DECLARATION:
I open wide my heart and mind to receive the Holy Spirit of Wisdom today. I am a solution to our nation’s problems through the knowledge of God’s Holy Spirit.
