DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: JULY 28 FAINT NOT IN THE DAYS OF ADVERSITY (1) SCRPITURES: PROV. 24: 10; ROM. 5: 3 – 4; JAM. 1: 2 – 4
The series of this devotional are built up from those of the two days ago which talked about “Seeing God Behind Your Troubles.” Christians are encouraged to be strong at all the time (Josh. 1: 6). One of the seemly funniest things the Bible asked Christian to do is “…knowing it all joy when ye fall into diverse temptations…” (Jam. 1: 4). We are also told to “…knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.” How could we need patience during adverse temptations? This can only be the Christians who exercise faith and hope in times of troubles. These are they who faint not in days of adversity. These groups of Christians know that against all odds, patience produces perfect work in making and nurturing one into the kind of good person that God desired such to become in life: “If you let patience work in you, the end result will be good. you will be matured and complete. You will be all that God wants you to be” (Jam. 1: 4 New Translation Bible).
When it comes to facing adversity in life; the Bible points Christians’ hearts to using faith to be strong. We Christians are told to know that tribulations produce patience and patience produces experience while experience produces hope. And those who hope in God during tribulations have never been put to shame (Rom. 5: 3 – 4). One of the greatest attribute of any practical Christian is being strong when storms of life surge all around him or her. It does not show a mark of Christian when one faints in faith and hope during troubles. Jesus Christ described His disciples as “men of little faith” when they were crying for deliverance from the storming sea (Matt. 8: 26). One with little faith is one with small strength. We are therefore, not to become weakened, morally and spiritually distressed or feebled and disconnected from God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit when being faced with adversity.
The word “adversity” is not Satan or enemies physically standing before us. It often comes in forms of hostile or unfavourable circumstances, distressful events, afflictions, misfortunes and anything causing discomfort in life._ Human being seems to be going through adversities in this 21st Country more than any we have had passed through. But the Bible tells us not to faint. The beloveth, know that oral confessing of Jesus is Lord but with shrinking faith is not it. We must be strong in the strength of faith and hope. Keep faith with God always!
PRAYER:
LORD JESUS, you conquered the world of adversity in your days. Grant me grace to win over my present circumstances. Amen. Enable us to see your Salvation now!
POSITIVE DECLARATION:
Jesus overcome the world, therefore, He will help me overcome my world. Hallelujah!!
