Ebonyi ADC Prepares For 2027 Election, Sets For Fresh Congresses

The Ebonyi State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has announced the party’s preparedness to participate in next year’s general elections, following the declaration of interests by aspirants for the positions of governor, senate, house of representatives and house of assembly.

The Chairman of the Party in Ebonyi State, Dr. Mrs Jennifer Adibe-Nwafor, who disclosed this to journalists, Monday, after the State Working Committee meeting held at her secretariat along the old Enugu-Abakaliki road, said that ADC like every other political parties in Nigeria will feature on the ballot paper.

According to her, the meeting became necessary in continuation of the party’s preparedness for the 2027 general elections, assuring that the party will field candidates across board, especially in Ebonyi State.

“Today, we had State Working Committee meeting; the LGA Chairmen, the Ward Chairmen and the aspirants were all here. You can see the crowd. The crowd is massive”, she stated.

She said while giving reasons for the meeting, “The meeting is to brief members on the state of the party. So, we deemed it very necessary to call for this meeting. One, African Democratic Congress (ADC) is a political party and not a support group. We are not pseudo to a political party. We are a political party, and this is a party that is going to be in the ballot paper. We are going to field candidates across board, more especially in Ebonyi State”, Adibe reiterated.

She further pointed out that the party is going to be having state assembly candidates, house of representatives candidates, senatorial candidates, including governorship candidate, re-stating, “we are ready and the aspirants are ready to run election with the party”.

Dr. Mrs Jennifer Adibe-Nwafor while disclosing the second reason for the SWC meeting, said the members took out time to consider the federal high court judgement that quashed the earlier conducted congresses of the party, disclosing that every state will be re-conducting her congresses, Ebonyi inclusive.

“The SWC also looked at the federal high court judgement that was delivered on the 29th day of April. All the congresses were held before they were quashed. The state chairmen were mandated to go and conduct the congresses. So, we have looked at it, and we are obeying the court order to go and conduct the congresses.

“The national has also been notified and they are fully aware of the judgement and we are going to be re-conducting the congresses again following the court judgement.

” Every other states will be conducting and we will not be left behind. It is also necessary that we follow to conduct the congresses so that our aspirants will be elected in a legitimate way.

“Even the convention was also quashed. The national has issued another date 27th of May for a special convention. In that convention, distinguished Senator David Mark and other national working committee members will be re-elected and ratified as national working committee members on that 27th of May 2026. We are law adding citizens, we do not go against court orders; we are following due process”, she maintained.

She, moreover, called on members to come together ahead of the congresses, stating that there is need for the party members to work in harmony now that fresh congresses have been announced if they must win the election.
