DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: SEPTEMBER 5 Topic: NEVER YOU PUT GOD TO TEST (Part 2) Scriptures: Deut. 6: 13 – 18; 1 Cor. 10: 9

Spread the love

We started this topic yesterday. Today is the concluding part. Anytime you are passing through wilderness experience, just look back at God’s love and kindness towards you in the past. God has blessed us in several ways in our lives; no greater act of love has ever been committed than the death of Jesus on the cross for us. We have every reason to believe in God’s goodness towards us. We have great promises from God about the future. We have been promised eternal life as God’s people. We have great destiny. Our present circumstances may be difficult. We suffer, we struggle and with sin. Life can be painful, difficult, and disappointing. But today, Moses tells us, and as well as Jesus, that we must not put God to test.

To put God to test means much more than trying to get Him to do a miracle, to test God is to insist that He prove that He is trustworthy. To test God is to look at today’s difficulties then stop believing God and say: “A loving God will never let me suffer in this way”. Maybe if things get better, then, I can trust Him again. To test God is to ask, as Israel did, “is God still with us or not?”

God has shown that He is with us; He has nothing to prove to us anymore. If we refuse to see it, we are as blind as Israel was in the wilderness. Sometimes God uses our troubles to confront us with the spiritual issues we will rather ignore. Our eternal destiny is riding on the choice we are making today. Will we trust God in the midst of our battles, or we will put Him to test?  The choice is yours, and my prayer is that we should be able to maintain the right attitude while in trouble, so that we will please our Father in heaven in Jesus Name.

PRAYER POINT:

Oh Lord, my God, direct my mind to the promise of a great future and destiny; so that I can maintain a right attitude while passing through the life challenges.

CONFESSION:

I have every reason to believe in God’s goodness towards me; because He has blessed me in several ways of my life.
