DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONALS: SEPTEMBER 24 MAKING PROGRESS AMDIST OPPOSTIONS (2)SCRIPTURE: NEHEMIAH 4: 7 – 8, 10
Yesterday’s devotional focused on telling readers that every step taken into making a good progress will attract oppositions. Life has been like that since the world began. Human beings and satanic kingdoms never stopped attacking people’s progresses, especially, when one is seen as following the God of Jesus Christ.Most often, as disclosed yesterday, our problems are often organized by those in leadership positions. For Nehemiah, it was a supposed colleague, who ought to be in an executive position with him, Sanballat that rose against him. Sanballat pulled Tobiah the Ammonite, the Arabs, and the men of Ashdod to his side to intimidate Nehemiah out of the rebuilding of the Jerusalem walls (Neh. 4: 1-2, 6-7).
As could be seen here, the enemies against Nehemiah were very formidable ones, both in numbers and in might. Yet, Nehemiah was not moved. As Christians, we should know that those fighting us, the spiritual warriors, are no little groups at all. We are not to take them for granted. At the same time, we are not meant to quit aiming at finishing whatever project we embarked upon. Opponents may use threats, propaganda, and blackmails even human wisdom to lure us into their hands. In such a time, we are to be resolute in going on with what we are doing. Nehemiah and his people were intimidated, insulted, ridiculed and threatened; but they stayed on the project of raising up the walls (Neh. 4: 7 – 8, 10).Insiders who are in Judah formed part of the opposition group, but Nehemiah was never moved.
The beloved, no effort to make progress in life is easy. The opposition group may come from within your people like the people of Judah who saw no sense in what Nehemiah started.The devotional may not know how many enemies are standing against your plans to make progress in life. But the fact is, those who believe in God and trust in Him for their endeavours will get to the end of what is started successfully. Nehemiah was an ordinary man, but with firm trust in God. When the opponents were growing in strength and numbers, he simply made his people to pray to God about everything (Neh. 4: 4, 9). The best ways to show God that you trust Him is taking your difficult moments to Him in prayers. We are in a world where government workers, business men and women, technicians and technocrats are opposing the less privileged from rising up. But those who trust in their God will get to the top at God’s appointed time. Encouraging word here is steadfastness in what you are doing, the beloved.
PRAYER:
Father Jehovah, I look on to you today for intervention. The world is getting hopeless every day, but your good plans for us your children stand sure. Keep me to the end when you will complete my plans in Jesus name.
