DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: SEPTEMBER 13 INVOLVING IN PARTNERSHIPS (1) SCRIPTURE: 2 SAM. 13: 3-6, 11-14, 28-29
Coming together of two, three or more persons with plans to co-jointly carry out businesses is akin to human relationships. We see two or more persons moving together as friends too, doing things in common. Relationship such as these has one name which is ‘Partnership’. We thus have ‘marriage partners’, ‘partners in crimes’, ‘business partners’ etc. The Bible talks in favour of partnership when it says that “Two are better than one…” (Eccl. 4: 9). It is presumably agreed that partnership in businesses, marriages, organizations or mutual relationships between two persons yield better results.
However, evidences have shown that many people as well as businesses have suffered greatly from wrong partnership accords. Today’s devotional talks on the partnerships which has dangerous ending, for the readers to avoid such. The Bible has many stories of people who came together as friends or alliances, but with one of the party having ulterior motives. One that prompts up quickly here is Amnon and Jonadab. Biologically, Amnon and Jonadab were cousins because Jonadab was King David’s nephew. But the Bible said Jonadab was a very crafty person. Possibly, his relationship with Amnon had wicked foundation from onset. Jonadab ended up counselling Amnon wrongly. He asked Amnon to fake sickness, demands from King David to allow Tamar his step sister to come and prepare meal for Amnon. This would pave ways for Amnon to have carnal knowledge of Tamar who Amnon loved seriously (2 Sam. 4: 4-5). Jonadab’s counsel worked. Amnon succeeded raping the step sister which led to his assassination by Absalom’s servants (2 Sam. 13: 28-29).
The beloved, we can see how dangerous a partnership of Amnon and Jonadab was above. A dangerous partnership is that which is with either hidden bad intention or that which ruins the life of the partner. So many people walk on the streets with scars of dangerous partnerships. It can be found in marriages. It is more common amongst peer groups, whether youths or adults. Question to readers of this devotional is “Do you have a scar or scars of dangerous partnerships?” God will heal you in Jesus name.
PRAYERS:
1. BLESSED FATHER, heal me of my inner wounds caused by bad partners I have wrongly chosen in Jesus name.
2. Ask in prayer, that you receive wisdom to deal with the pains received from dangerous partnerships you have entered into that is hurting you today; in the name of Jesus.
