ENGR.OBADIAH BAGS NYSLM MOST OUTSTANDING ICON of NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AWARD

The Director General of the Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office (NMCO), Engr. Obadiah Simon Nkom, has bagged  the prestigious Nigerian Youth amd Students Leadership Movement (NYSLM) National Leadership Meritorious / Excellency Award.

The award, presented in Abuja, recognizes Engr. Nkom’s significant contributions to Nigeria’s development, particularly through his leadership of NMCO, which plays a critical role in the country’s economic growth by consistently boosting the internally generated revenue (IGR).

In a statement from NYSLM, the organization commended Engr. Nkom’s commitment and noted that since his appointment, the Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office has consistently surpassed its previous IGR targets, even during the challenging COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. This remarkable achievement has positioned NMCO as one of the key government agencies driving national development.

During the award presentation at his office, Engr. Nkom expressed his gratitude to the NYSLM leadership. “I am delighted to be considered for this prestigious honor. It serves as a reminder of my responsibility as a public servant to serve the interests of the nation and its citizens. I remain committed to increasing my efforts to ensure that NMCO continues to contribute to Nigeria’s overall growth,” he stated.

The award ceremony was attended by senior officials from NMCO, including the Director in the Registry Department, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulmajeed, and other deputy directors. The NYSLM delegation was led by Hon. Seun Akinde, National President, accompanied by Amb. Yaro Ochedo, Director of Diaspora Affairs; Amb. Wisdom Onwe, Director of Operations; and Princess Natasha Obas, National Welfare Director.

This recognition is a testament to Engr. Nkom’s leadership and dedication to enhancing the agency’s contributions to the national economy, further strengthening the government’s efforts to diversify Nigeria’s revenue sources through the mining sector.
