DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONALS: OCTOBER 27 REWARD OF DISOBEYING GOD (2) SCRIPTURE: DEUTERONOMY 4: 26 – 27; 1 SAMUEL 31: 1 – 3
The world will keep witnessing sorrowful consequences of disobedient acts to God as long as it continue to carrying out increasing acts of disobedience of refusing to know God in this present age. The nature of monumental destructions human beings carried out against fellow beings these days are too barbaric and unprecedented. Many have wondered what the hell that has gone wrong with human beings. Whatever we are seeing today is reflection of peoples’ total refusal to recognize God’s orders by grossly turning to idolatries against serving the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Great destructions have taken place in Ukraine/Russia wars in years back. Untold destructions are been seen in Gaza, Iran, Kenya, Sudan. Great destructions, for instance, have happened in Afghan over decades, South Africa and Nigeria have had theirs severally. Reasons for all these are not far from people turning away from God.
Moses warned the Israelites not to make themselves graven images to worship in Deut. 4: 24. He made the people to know that corrupting themselves by making graven images and worshiping them will make God utterly destroy them wherever they go. Making graven images to worship amounts to refusing God and disregarding Him as Almighty Father. The reward of such is destruction. These destructions can come from within or through external evasions. Another peculiarity of this destruction is by scattering the nation or tribe that refused to worship God to other nations. We see people been scattered to other nations as internally displaced people (IDP) assembled in many places globally these days.
The beloved in Jesus, the candid thrust of this devotional is pointing the world to the major reasons people are destroying themselves in larger and horrendous manners these days. The reasons are not far from refusing God as Almighty God over us. Disregarding God’s laws and embracing man-made gods other than God is usually visited with monumental destructions. The last thing that broke King Saul away from God was going to visit the witch of Erdon. Because of this, God allowed King Saul and his people to be woefully defeated in war. Himself and his son, Jonathan died in this battle 1 Samuel 31: 1 – 3. Until we accept this truth and turn to God, wars and natural disasters, incurable diseases and sicknesses will be on the increase and destroying human beings.
PRAYER:
OH LORD GOD, heal the people of this world of sin of disobedience in the name of Jesus Christ.
