REP. CLEMENT JIMBO: an  era of constituents’ needs priority, patriotism

Pan Reporters|Abuja  The Deputy Chairman, House Committee on National Planning and Economic Development, Member representing Abak/Etim Ekpo/ Ika Federal Constituency (Akwa-Ibom, APC) Hon. Clement Jimbo has expressed joy and further reaffirmed his  commitment to prioritizing the needs of his constituents as well as commitment nation building in ensuring transparent budget allocation.

The lawmaker  who is driven by patriotism and the wellbeing of his constituents in particular and Nigerians as a whole emphasized that his focus is on meeting the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians, rather than indulging in frivolous expenditures.

Jimbo who spoke with press men of the National Assembly New Media Forum during an interview in his National Assembly office, the highlighted their rigorous scrutiny of budget proposals, particularly those submitted by the Ministry of Budget and National Planning, the Budget Office, and other Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). He  noted that some proposals were rejected, with instructions to “clean the record and represent it to the committee.”

The lawmaker also shared his commitment to prioritizing the needs of his constituents and x-rays his achievements in empowering constituents which includes the donation of a tipper truck to the Tipper Loaders’ Association, which he described as a campaign promise fulfilled.This gesture, has elevated the beneficiaries and set a precedent in the history of empowerment initiatives in the constituency and beyond.

Other notable projects executed by the lawmaker include training and empowerment of female youth in cosmetology, with starter packs provided, infrastructure development involving construction of a town hall in Ward 3, and grading of over 50 kilometers of rural roads.

“When we came in, there are projects I inherited. Of course, I didn’t start this National Assembly. Before I came in here, somebody was representing the federal constituency. So when I came in, the first thing I did was to check what was left in the budget of 2023 from June to December, and I discovered a couple of projects which I pursued vigorously with the MDAs for them to be executed. The first one of such was training of  female youth on cosmetology, We train and we give them starter packs.”

“The second one in the category was the construction of a town hall in ward three (3) in the local government area that has also been done, completed and handed over to the people.

“Then away from the 2023 we move into a full budget cycle, which is 2024 so far, we have executed numerous project. The first one is solar street light, hundreds of them littered across the constituency, local government, areas, villages in the federal constituency. The second one is road grading. So far, we’ve graded close to 50 kilometers of road, rural roads across these three different local government areas. The next that follows that is schools. We’ve started, completed, handed over to the school a brand  block of six classroom. Started, completed,  furnished and given to the schools. We’ve equally done solar powered boreholes, three in number across the three local government areas, handed over to the people. Then we’ve done series of empowerments and training. We’ve trained on ICT, and we’ve given brand new laptops. We’ve given scholarship to students, many of them. We’ve given bursary to student in their numbers. We’ve equally given grant to market women in their numbers. We’ve equally done training on agriculture.”

On education Jimbo said he has completion and handover a brand-new block of six classrooms, fully furnished, and Installation of solar-powered boreholes and hundreds of solar streetlights as well as  training programs for market women, with grants of 80,000 Naira each as grant.

Honourable Clement Jimbo facilitated  employment opportunities, including a level-eight officer position in the Auditor General’s office, with comprehensive support provided to the beneficiary pending probation period by the office.

The lawmaker expressed pride in his accomplishments, stating that they have surpassed the targets set by their predecessors, reiterated his  commitment to continuing his work, prioritizing the needs of their constituents, and ensuring transparent governance.
