DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: MARCH 10 Topic: WAITING ON GOD (3) Scriptures: Psalm 33: 20 – 22; Isaiah 40: 31
We want what we want and want it now! God sits on His throne and tells us to wait. Not now, maybe later. Wait till it’s His timing, wait till He aligns everything up for His good, waiting for us to let go of that thing that is holding us back. He tells us to wait.
In the book of Numbers 9:19-22, God came down as a cloud and as a fire. He hovered over the tabernacle and tent of testimony, during the day like a cloud and like a fire by night. When the cloud and fire lifted, it was God’s sign that they could move forward in their journey and when the cloud and fire came down; they had to stay encamped and wait on God. It could be two days, two months, or two years depending on how long the cloud and fire is lifted again.
Can you imagine standing in awe of His presence, fully loved, protected, knowing and seeing that God is with you? *He made them wait on Him as they went on their journey. God wants us to wait on Him, seeking His face with repentant heart, waiting in His presence and seeking His will. Rest confidently in the Lord, stay focused in deep prayer (1 Pet. 4: 12). There is going to be a hard season, persecution and struggles. We are told not to be surprised when they come, because God has promised to be there for us always. Be ever determined to stay focused on who God is, and His promises to see you through.
While you wait for God, be an expectant person and not a passive person. A passive person hopes something good will happen and is willing to sit around waiting to see if it does. After a short time, he gives up, saying, “that’s it! I have waited and waited and nothing has happened.” The passive person has a lot of wishbone but not backbone!
The expectant person on the other hand, is hopeful, believing the answer is just around the corner, due to arrive any moment. His belief is not a passive thing; his heart is full of hope, expecting his problems to be solved at any moment. He wakes up every morning expecting to find an answer. He continued waiting until what he’s been waiting for happens.
A pregnant woman who is expecting a baby, even though she can’t see it, she knows it’s there. She actively prepares for the arrival of the baby because she knows that the promise will be fulfilled- it’s just a matter of time. She is expectant and she is willing to wait as long as it takes.
Waiting period is actually supposed to serve as a time of preparation for the answer; so don’t give up! Don’t stop believing! Stay full of hope and expectation!God’s power is limitless, and He’ll breakthrough for you.
PRAYER POINTS:
(1) My Lord and my God, I need spiritual sensitivity to be able to know when you want me to move forward and to know when to stop moving.
(2) I want to be an expectant Christian and not a passive Christian. Help me not to give up my hope at the verge of my miracle.
CONFESSION:
I will not give up, I will not stop believing, I will stay full of hope and expectation, because I know my God can help me.
