CDS General Musa Champions Security at North Central Peace Summit in Jos

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa (OFR), today reaffirmed the Nigerian Armed Forces’ commitment to peace and security in the North Central region as he attended the official launch of the Presidential Community Engagement Peace Initiative (PCEPI) and the North Central Peace Summit in Jos, Plateau State.

Held at the prestigious Crispan Suites and Event Centre, the event was organized by the Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (North Central), Dr. Mrs. Abiodun Essiet. The summit aimed to drive a sustainable peace agenda, foster social cohesion, and establish grassroots peace structures in every ward across the North Central region.

A key highlight of the summit was the Fireside Chat segment, where General Musa addressed pressing security challenges affecting the region. Moderated by Dr. Essiet herself, the interactive session allowed the CDS to engage candidly on issues ranging from communal clashes to banditry, offering strategic solutions to restore lasting peace.

“The security of the North Central is not only a military concern but a collective responsibility,” General Musa stated during the session. “Through proactive community engagement and strengthened inter-agency collaboration, we can build a future where peace and economic development thrive side by side.”

General Musa was accompanied by a high-level delegation including Major General EF Oyinlola, General Officer Commanding 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation SAFE HAVEN, along with senior officers from Defence Headquarters.

The summit marks a significant step toward a coordinated and community-driven approach to peacebuilding in the region, signaling the federal government’s renewed focus on stabilizing one of Nigeria’s most volatile zones.

CDS ATTENDS NORTH CENTRAL PEACE SUMMIT, OFFICIAL LAUNCHING OF THE PRESIDENTIAL COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PEACE INITIATIVE IN JOS

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa (OFR) today 5 June 2025 attended the official launching of the Presidential Community Engagement Peace Initiative ( PCEPI ) and North Central Peace Summit held in Jos, Plateau State.

The event held at Crispan Suites and Event Centre was organised by the Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (North Central), Dr Mrs Abiodun Essiet. According to the organizer, the summit is an innovative peace network in the North Central aimed at driving the peace agenda and promoting social cohesion across the region, while also establishing community-based peace groups in every ward of the North Central.

General Christopher Musa participated in the FIRE SIDE CHAT segment anchored on security issues bothering the North Central Region, which was moderated by the host, Dr Mrs Abiodun Essiet.

During the chat, the CDS responded to several issues raised by the anchor on security issues within the region, and also proffered solutions which when fully implemented would promote peaceful coexistence and also boost the socio-economic activities within the region.

In the entourage of the CDS were the GOC 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major General EF Oyinlola and Principal Staff Officers from DHQ.
