DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: JUNE 6 HOW DARE YOU ASKING GOD “WHY?” (1) SCRIPTURE: Zechariah 13: 7 – 9; Job 23: 10
Everyone had passed through an unexpected period of time that he or she pulsed to ask “Why am I passing through all these in life?” Nobody is exempted from difficult moments. Whether being righteous or wicked, there must come a time the world would be caving in on you or collapsing upon you like packs of cards. In short, mankind is programmed on good days and bad days, healthy days and days of protracted sicknesses. There must be an occasion, in Nigeria English, that “mankind will pass from the frying pan to fire.” Many, while passing through hard periods of life, would tend to ask God why. This devotional cautions everyone going through unexpected life circumstances not to be tempted to ask God “Why” as that will amount to questioning His authority.
Passing one through strenuous hardship or untold difficult situations, most often, is God’s ways of training His people for a noble position in the future. He often does not explain to us why certain things are allowed to come on our ways that bad. We have so many people who wanted their own chosen career in life, but God sees a better career for them. What God does to those people is allowing them go through hard training in failures, delayed results of what is done disappointments, frustrations and so on. The training thus makes the individuals well equipped with experiences and knowledge to handle a position prepared ahead.Instead of asking God why, the best response is to ask God: “Father, what would you want me to know from this situation I am in now?” In the passage of this devotional, it is seen how God raised “sword” against those in charge of the affairs of Israel (shepherds) to punish them; with the purpose of making some of them repent of their evil ways and turn to Him.
Jehovah God has purposes behind everything that comes to us as His children. Job, a man acquainted with many inexplicable sufferings said: “But He knows the way that I take; when He has tested me, I will come forth as gold” (Job 23: 10 NIV). God spoke through Prophet Zechariah concerning how He will allow the people of Israel to be conquered and taken captive as refining process through fire: “And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they will call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, it is my people: and they shall say, the Lord is my God” (Zechariah 13: 9 KJV). This explains that God allows certain conditions of life to come to us, so that we know how to pray to Him better as well knowing Him more as our God. I might not know the weight and duration of your troubles or helpless situations. All I have for you in this devotional is, wait in faith and hope on God. When His plans for you are ripe, you will know why you were subjected to those harrowing experiences. We will touch some people who God trained through heinous hardships who later emerged celebrities. You will reign again! You will shine your shine very soon. He who is a present help in time of need is watching. He will not allow you to be consumed by your enemies.
PRAYER:
JEHOVAH NISSI, give me strength and courage to endure my ugly situations till your help comes to me. Enable me to push throw the troop of my assailants in Jesus name.
POSITIVE DECLARATION:
As a child of God, I am standing on the Solid Rock who is Jesus Christ. I will not surrender till my troubles surrender.
