A former Chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party(PDP) of Wigbeke Ward one in Effium Autonomous Community in Ohaukwu local government area, of Ebonyi State, Monday Odah, has been k;!!ed by suspected to be Ezza warlords.
A press statement issued and signed by the President-General of Effium autonomous community, Dr. Agena James, said Monday Odah was brought down barely twenty-four hours after the Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru visited the war torn Effium community during which he addressed elders of the community to maintain the peace initiative of the State government.
Agena revealed that Monday Odah was among the detainees of the Effium crisis that were released February this year after more than four years incarceration.
He however said that the people of Effium will continue to maintain the peace, but said that the k;!!;ing took place after the release Emmanuel Igboke Owuru from the prison leaves much to be desired.
The statement reads, “I humbly wish to bring to the knowledge of the governor of Ebonyi state about the k;!!;ing this morning at about 8.30am of one Monday Odah at Inyafuo village area within Effium urban while working in his farm by allegedly suspected Ezza warriors.
“It is most annoying because this is coming on the heels of the visit of his Excellency Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru to Effium elders yesterday the 5th day of June 2025.
“While speaking to Effium elders, the governor reiterated his commitment to ensure that total and enduring peace return to Effium while promising to bring adequate developments to the area.
“The k;!ling of Monday Odah is one too many as he was among the detainees of the Effium crisis that were released February this year after more than four years incarceration.
“It is worthy of note to state that late Monday Odah lost his parents in this crisis while in detention. Can this new restart of k;!!ing be attributed to the unfortunate release of Emmanuel Igboke Owuru who despite the atrocities his boys have committed in this crisis was released from the correction facilities without proper trial?
“Effium people will continue to maintain peace, however, this recent killing coming within one week of the release of Emmanuel Igboke Owuru from the prison leaves much to be desired”, the release stated.
