The federal lawmaker representing Ikwo/Ezza South federal constituency in Ebonyi State, Hon. Chinedu Ogah, has distributed 5,000 bags of fertiliser and about 1,000 bags of rice paddy to farmers.
Ogah, who is also House Committee Chairman on Reformatory Institutions, during the distribution on Saturday in Ikwo local government said, “We are distributing these inputs to the farmers early this year so that they will have a bumper harvest.”
Uzoamaka Nwifuru, the wife of the state governor, who flagged off the distribution of the farm inputs, described the lawmaker as a great philanthropist and a true servant of the people.
She said that his efforts could transform lives and strengthen the constituency, aligning with the People’s Charter of Needs under Governor Francis Nwifuru’s administration.
“As the First Lady of the state and the founder of Better Life for Rural Women and Internally Displaced Persons Foundation (BERWO), and more importantly, as a mother, I am proud to witness such a comprehensive empowerment initiative that addresses key areas of development, including food security, education, and youth advancement,”.
Nwifuru, who said farmers are the backbone of the state’s local economy, encouraged them to effectively utilize the improved farming inputs received from Ogah to help feed their families, the state, and the nation.
Correspondent reports that the flag-off of the farm inputs distribution also featured ceremonial payment of the 2025 WAEC, NECO, and JAMB fees for over 3,000 candidates in the constituency, including inmates at the Abakaliki Correctional Center, totalling over N91 million.
Specifically, Ogah allocated N91 million for scholarships, N76 million for WAEC, N41 million for NECO, N5.6 million for JAMB, and N3.9 million for the inmates taking the WAEC exams.
