DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: JULY 3 THE PRINCIPLES OF NEW BIRTH (2) SCRIPTURE: Eph. 4: 22 – 24; 2 Cor. 5: 16 – 17
Yesterday’s devotional gave the introduction of the New Birth of Christians. It stated that there are more to just confessing Jesus Christ as one’s personal Lord and Saviour. We can see a person who claimed being born again, yet, lives a lifestyle worse than any criminal. Perhaps, this happens because the needed knowledge about being born again has not been imparted into the person. In this devotional and the subsequent ones; we will be looking at the principles involved in living a life of New Birth as a Christian. First to mention is, getting born again means receiving importation of a new life. There will be a Spiritual operation whereby the Holy Ghost begins to fill the mind of the person with new ideas and knowledge of godliness. The heart becomes free of every evil intended conversation in the heart. This process is also referred to as “Renewing of the HOLY GHOST or “Quickening of the Holy Spirit (Eph. 4: 22 – 23).
Another principle involves recreations. An ordinary man’s heart is controlled by his or her personal spirit which God breathed into him or her at creation. This spirit’s contents are corrupted with various vices. On becoming born again, the Holy Spirit enters into man and begins to recreate a new lifestyle in the person. The fact about this recreation is that we human beings have our role to play. We must agree that now we are new creature and all old things are passed away (2 Cor. 5: 16 – 17).
We have the principle which involves purely a renewal of one’s life patterns too. Under this principle, the born again or the carrier of this New Birth is seen living on new ways of life such as works of righteousness, changing from bad characters and habits and having passion for godliness. Apostle Paul referred to this as “Stripping yourself of former nature” (Eph. 4: 22 – 24). If you claim being born again and could not strip yourself of evil friends, habits and attitudes, hating people, living a life of sorrow etc., it means you have not been born again. The churches of Christ these days seem to have people filled with lip-services as born again Christians. This is making many Christians living in worldly lives and in disguised appearances. We must all live a life of renewed life pattern or go back to world. Enough of sticking to our dirty life professing born again and Spirit filled!
PRAYER:
BLESSED FATHER, I acknowledge that I have made many doubting the credibility of being a Christian by my characters and habits. Send into me the Holy Spirit that renews the minds to renew my mind in Jesus name.
POSITIVE DECLARATION:
I am going to be a carrier of the creative power of the Holy Ghost. My life is changing for good. Hallelujah.
