Fighting False Narratives: Oak Centre Partners with National Assembly Media Forum

The Oak Centre on Wednesday equipped members of the National Assembly New Media Forum (NANMF) with essential skills to detect and counter disinformation using practical fact-checking and verification techniques.
The one-day capacity-building workshop reflects the Centre’s ongoing commitment to strengthening public resilience against misinformation and false narratives in today’s fast-evolving, AI-driven information landscape.
Delivered through interactive sessions, high-level training modules by experts, and hands-on exercises, the workshop explored critical themes including the definition of disinformation, how to identify threat markers, authentic information sources within the National Assembly, and effective methods for verifying facts. Participants also learned about various fact-checking tools and the ethical responsibilities of media practitioners.
A key highlight of the session was the introduction of a range of digital verification tools to help participants more effectively assess the credibility of both content and its sources.
