DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: OCTOBER 11 IS THE BLOOD NO LONGER CRYING? (1) SCRIPTURE: GENESIS 4: 10 -11
The observed deadliest crimes or heinous sins committed these days is killing of human beings. The issue is alarming, confusing and fearsome. Alarming in the sense that murdering of people has become funs without emotional feeling as well as taking phenomenal dimension beyond control. People take to killing others in a swift moment with little or no justified reasons. It is confusing in the sense that whether God still frowns at killing of human beings. Confusing also whether the governments of the day benefit from the killings given the docile manner governments handle cases of murders. It is fearsome in the sense that everyone is more of a walking corpse to an unknown predator, making moving about very insecure. Any man or woman sitting next to you in a bus, aircraft or in taxi cab is a potential killer. The fearful question is who is next?
The popular story of how Cain killed his brother, Abel and how his blood cried from the earth to God in heaven is known to all Christians of ages. According to the story, immediately Abel was slayed, and his blood touched the ground, God called on Cain asking him of what he has just done. God followed it up by telling Cain that the blood of his brother has cried up from the earth to heaven. God instantly pronounced judgment upon Cain. The baffling thing here is that over the years, after the incident of the killing of Abel by Cain, killing of human beings has been on the increase. Millions of millions have been killed through different kinds of wars. Thousands died through religious crisis. And God keeps watching! People kill fellow human beings and post the actions on Facebook for others to see. Human beings are being skinned on videos live for people to view. Borrowed from Cain and Abel episode, one would think that God supposed to have reacted. This raised doubt in some minds of what a hell is God doing!
Rational mind will expect that God will swiftly react all this while over the killings of human beings by fellow human beings. Today’s devotional comes up with a question if blood of the slayed people still cry out to God. One will be justified to conclude that God no longer hears the cries of those being killed every day round the globe? Is it part of His giving the people of the world up to a reprobate mind? Amazingly, the martyrs in the Book of Revelation asked God when He will avenge their killing (Rev. 6: 9 – 11). This series of the devotional also feel it funny seeing the ways people are being killed these days without the expected sad reactions of God towards it all. The devotional was tempted to ask this question: “Is the blood no longer crying?” Here is a big question yearning for answers. Answers to this question are likely going to vary if every Christians’ views are to be sought for. Prayerfully the answers will be supplied in the subsequent discussions.
PRAYER:
JEHOVAH FATHER, I know your eyes are wide open seeing the killing of human beings in the world, and your ears hear the cries of the dying ones through cruel death. Kindly show the world how sad You are in the name of Jesus Christ.
