DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: NOVEMBER 2 GOD STILL JUDGES SINS (2) SCRIPTURE: GENESIS 19: 9; Gal. 6: 7 -10)
As seen in yesterday’s devotional, many sinners at first think that God could do nothing to punish them. They behave arrogantly and talk in stupidity against God. They defile, to their understanding, the name of God. Such are seen these days, where hired assassins will go to worship centers to kill, spilling blood of innocent ones and go out jubilating triumphantly. Hear what the men of Sodom and Gomorrah said to Lot: “Stand back, they shouted, this fellow came to town as an outsider and now he’s acting like our judge. We’ll treat you far worse than these men…” (Gen. 19: 9 Africa Study Bible). When God’s judgment is not dropped on sinners, they talk like champions and lords. These days, our minds are numbed, thinking God does not take offense at sins, given ways people deliberately commit sins. Funning enough, people of the past generations have witnessed such till God’s judgment came on them.
Every generation of wickedness behaves gods till God will descend upon them. Every wicked person sees self as a boss over anyone, including God, till the Almighty God would come knocking at his or her doors for destructions. When real judgment day of God comes upon a man or woman, such cries like baby, all the acquired powers will vanish into thin air. We can see this when a cult grandmaster is caught; when the notorious gang leader is caught or when the once taken to be the most dangerous native doctor is caught of crimes. We must know that each of us have our different judgment days when God will say: “Your Days Are Finished.” Sins are so glorified these days that some people have taken sinful life for righteousness to the extent some Christians have imbibed evil characters for righteousness.
Question is, “Is God still judging sinful actions these days?” The supposed answer is provided in Galatians 6: 7 – 8; that we cannot mock God. We must know that we will surely harvest what we sow. This passage tells us that “Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature…” (Gal. 6: 8 Africa Study Bible). The major reason Satan seems succeeding in luring people into sins is because he is gathering his own people who will go to hell. We never become Christians to go to hell but to earn ourselves everlasting life. Reason part of Gal. 6: 8 says that: “But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit” (Africa Study Bible). We should take note of those combining unrighteous acts with serving God being exposed day by day now. This reflects God’s judgment over sins. Many Pastors, Bishops, Apostles and Prophets are in jails everywhere these days for fornication, adultery, duping their members as well as killing for ritual sacrifices. They are already harvesting what they planted. The Bible encourages us not to be tired in doing what is good as seen in Gal. 6: 9. The Beloved, let us all endeavour to stand out for God!!
PRAYER:
LORD JESUS, there is no how you will overlook deliberate sins since you have come to suffer for our sins. Grant me divine wisdom to know that sin is evil and it has its ugly rewards. Enable me to live above sins. Amen!
