DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: DECEMBER 24 YOU HAVE NO REASON NOT TO PRAISE GOD (1) SCRIPTURE: PSALMS 139: 13 – 14; 150: 6
When talking of giving God praise and thanksgiving, many people would feel very indifferent as they look around themselves and claimed not seeing anything worthy of praising God._ Some see themselves in perpetual sickness, therefore, can’t praise God. Others see that their relations or loved ones have all died, therefore, no need to give God thanks. Others will see barrenness as good reason not to give thanks to God. The cases are many to mention. But, all these and others are not best reasons why God will not be praised and given thanks.
Today’s devotional will show us why all the living must praise God and give Him thanks. A little information on how God wonderfully created us will show us why it is foolishness not to praise God and give Him thanks at all times. We will take a look at what our skins, our brain and our ears contain in this part one of this devotional. Just imagine this; a square inch of every human skin contains 20 blood vessels, 65 muscles, 78 nerves, 78 sensors for heat, 13 for cold and 160 for pleasure. Other contents in this square inch skin are 650 sweat glands, 1300 nerve endings and 19,500,000 cells.
Our brain weighs just about three pounds, yet stores up 100 million bits of information from various senses poured into it at a time. If one lives for 70 years, he or she would have received about 100 trillion bits of information. Should this information be written in books, it will produce up to 500,000 sets of Encyclopedia Britannica. With all these information being stuffed into the brain, it uses energy less than a 100 Watts of bulb. Then our ears? *It is said that as small as our ears are, each of our ears contains 1500 keys. A world standard keyboard has only 88 keys. Every sound entering the ears hit different keys for us to hear clearly and understand what goes into our ears. Amazing truth here is that these keys are finely tuned that we can hear the blood running in our vessels.
This information is just a drop of pebble in an ocean compare with what scientists, physiologists, anatomists and others do discover. With such amazing discovering King David would say “I am wonderfully and fearfully made…” (Psa. 139: 13). Besides how mysterious God severally saved King David that give him the opportunity to praise Him, David discovered by reasoning that God created him very wonderfully and fearfully. I wish we all know this truth and covert it to praising and thanking God every day. I pray for every one of us, that God gives us knowledge to know what He puts into us so as to praise Him and thank Him. Hear what David says here “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.” (Psa.139: 13-14; NLT).
PRAYER:
ALMIGHTY FATHER, thank you so much for making me this wonderful and fearful amongst all creations in the name of Jesus. Amen.
