The Executive Chairman of Ishielu Local Government Area, Mrs. Peace Agwu, on Wednesday formally obtained the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship expression of interest and nomination forms, signalling her intention to seek a second term in office ahead of the grassroots polls scheduled for August 2026.
Agwu picked the form at the APC Secretariat in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, amid a large turnout of supporters and party faithful who gathered to show solidarity.
Speaking to journalists shortly after collecting the form, the council chairman expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to rejoin the race, describing the moment as one of joy and thanksgiving.
“I feel very excited. I thank the Heavenly Father, the Maker of heaven and earth, who made it possible for me to obtain the chairmanship form today,” she said.
Agwu also commended the leadership of the state, particularly the governor, for what she described as the opportunity and platform to serve the people of Ishielu Local Government Area.
Responding to questions on how she raised the ₦30 million required for the purchase of the form, Agwu attributed it to divine intervention.
“I want to thank the God of heaven who made the way where it was not possible. He is the one who made it available for me,” she stated.
Outlining her agenda for a second term, Agwu assured the people of Ishielu LGA of greater impact and improved governance, noting that the experience gained during her first tenure would be deployed more effectively.
“By the grace of God Almighty, there will be a difference in this second term. The Maker of heaven and earth will make that difference to the glory of God and for the benefit of mankind,” she said.
Agwu emphasized that her administration would continue to prioritize the welfare of the people, grassroots development, and the strengthening of party unity within the local government area.
Supporters at the APC secretariat welcomed her decision to recontest, describing her as a committed leader whose administration has positively impacted lives across Ishielu LGA.
