SENATOR NWEBONYI PLEDGES STRONGER COLLABORATION WITH AE-FUNAI, COMMITS ₦200M LAW AUDITORIUM, INTERNAL ROADS, AND SCHOLARSHIPS FOR 20 INDIGENT STUDENTS

The Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate and Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi, has reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening collaboration with Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike Ikwo (AE-FUNAI), through strategic interventions aimed at enhancing infrastructure and supporting students.

 

Senator Nwebonyi according to a media report e-signed by his Special Assistant (Media and Publicity),   Uzor Ozioko made this known on Monday during a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Daniel Nwachukwu, at his office in AE-FUNAI.

As part of his intervention plans, the Senator pledged to construct internal road networks within the university, build an ultra-modern Law Auditorium valued at ₦200 million, and grant automatic scholarships to 20 indigent students. He disclosed that the scholarships would be awarded by April this year during his empowerment programme.

In his response, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Nwachukwu, expressed profound appreciation for the Senator’s commitment and goodwill. He emphasized the need for sustained collaboration between the university and members of the National Assembly from Ebonyi State, assuring that his administration remains focused on advancing the institution to global standards.

 

Professor Nwachukwu further commended Senator Nwebonyi for his previous intervention in settling the outstanding fees of some pioneer medical students of the university. He noted that the timely support enabled the affected students—drawn from different parts of the country—to complete their studies and successfully take their medical oaths.

In separate remarks, the Head of the Department of Accountancy, Associate Professor Monday Ikpor, and a lecturer in the Faculty of Law, Barrister Nnaemeka Nwambam—who also serves as Chief of Staff to Senator Nwebonyi—praised the Senator’s visionary leadership and prayed for greater accomplishments in his service to the people.
