The Deputy National President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro has accused the opposition coalition in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of sponsoring and fueling the ongoing attack by Tracy Ohiri on the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, and her lawyer, Marshall Abubakar.

He said that the situation appears to be a calculated attempt to tarnish the reputation of Senator Umahi and undermine his efforts to deliver on his mandate of improving Nigeria’s infrastructure.

In a press statement issued over the weekend, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, described recent developments surrounding Mrs. Ohiri as “perplexing and troubling,” adding that they reinforce earlier claims that she may be sponsored.

“For clarity and to eliminate any ambiguity, we categorically state that Senator Dave Umahi did not offer any financial compensation or inducement to Mrs. Ohiri in the alleged sum of $70,000 (approximately ₦100 million),” the statement said.

“Ohanaeze further expressed concern over Mrs. Ohiri’s wellbeing, suggesting that her actions may indicate a need for medical and psychological evaluation.

“It is with a deep sense of responsibility and commitment to truth that Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide issues this statement to address the disturbing circumstances surrounding Mrs. Tracy Nicholas Ohiri. We are compelled to clarify the facts and express concern for her wellbeing, as there are indications she may require urgent medical attention,” the statement added.

The group also referenced her earlier public retraction of sexual harassment allegations against Senator Umahi, noting that she had previously apologized without coercion.

“Ohiri has again made fresh allegations against her legal representative, Barrister Marshall Abubakar, and some human rights activists, despite her earlier retraction and apology,” the statement continued.
She was advised her to remain consistent with her previous statements and cautioned that it would not intervene in any legal consequences she might face.

“We urge Mrs. Ohiri to stand by her earlier statements in the interest of her peace and that of the public. Neither Ohanaeze Ndigbo nor its affiliates will shield her from legal consequences if she is arrested or prosecuted,” the group stated.

The organization also called on her family to ensure she receives appropriate medical care without delay.
