The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has dismissed circulating rumours about insecurity at some examination centres ahead of the 2026 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations, assuring candidates and parents of comprehensive security arrangements nationwide.

The Force said it has already deployed enhanced security measures across the country to ensure a safe and hitch-free exercise scheduled to commence on April 16, 2026.

The assurance was contained in a press release issued by the Force Headquarters, Abuja, and signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, on April 14, 2026.

According to the statement, the police described the claims about unsafe centres in a North Central state as “unfounded,” stressing that while it does not act on rumours, it has taken proactive steps in response to public concerns.

“The Nigeria Police Force wishes to categorically state that these claims are without basis,” the statement said.

Nationwide Security Deployment

The police disclosed that additional personnel have been strategically deployed to examination centres nationwide, both overtly and covertly, to prevent any disruption during the examinations.

These measures include routine patrols, perimeter surveillance, and the positioning of rapid response teams to address any potential threats.

“Extra security has been deployed at examination centres nationwide… to prevent any untoward incidents,” the statement noted.

The Force added that it is working in close collaboration with other security agencies to monitor developments and ensure swift response to any security breaches.

Warning to Troublemakers

The NPF warned that any individual or group attempting to disrupt the examination process would be decisively dealt with.

“Any individual or group attempting to disrupt the examination process will be swiftly identified and brought to justice,” the police said.

Advice to Candidates, Parents

Reassuring the public, the police urged candidates to remain calm, arrive early at their centres, and comply with examination guidelines, while also encouraging the reporting of suspicious movements to security personnel on ground.

The Force also cautioned against the spread of misinformation, urging the public to rely only on verified updates from relevant authorities.

“Members of the public are advised to disregard unverified information circulating on social media,” the statement added.

The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining security and public confidence in national activities, expressing appreciation for the cooperation of citizens and stakeholders toward ensuring a smooth and secure examination process.
