Ado LG Chairman Mourns Chief Alfred Obande, Describes Loss as End of an Era

The Chairman of Ado Local Government Area of Benue State, Sunny Oche, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of respected community elder, Alfred Ogaba Isenyo Obande, describing his death as a profound loss to the people of the area.

 

The condolence message was conveyed in a statement issued by Innocent Igelle Principal Private Secretary to the Chairman.

 

Chief Obande, popularly known as Ogaba–Eka, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026, at his residence in Igumale, Ado Local Government Area.

 

In his tribute, Oche described the late elder as a man of dignity, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to community values, noting that his legacy of service and leadership would continue to inspire generations.

 

“Chief Alfred Ogaba Isenyo Obande was a revered elder whose life was marked by selfless service and dedication to the unity and progress of our people,” the chairman said.

 

He added that the deceased’s contributions to community development and traditional leadership would not be forgotten.

 

“His legacy will continue to resonate within Ado Local Government and beyond. We have indeed lost a pillar of strength and a custodian of our cultural heritage,” Oche stated.

 

The chairman, on behalf of the government and people of Ado LGA, extended heartfelt condolences to Omoi Obande, the Obande Dynasty, and the entire family, friends, and associates of the deceased.

 

He also prayed for strength and comfort for the bereaved family, urging them to take solace in the impactful life lived by the late elder.

 

“May Almighty God grant the family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss, and may the soul of our departed father rest in eternal peace,” he added.

 

The family has indicated that burial arrangements for the late Chief will be announced at a later date.
