Ado Local Government Mourns the Passing of Elder Statesman, Hon. Elias Igboke Ekpiri

Ado Local Government Area is deeply saddened by the passing of Hon. Elias Igboke Ekpiri, a highly respected elder statesman and community leader, who died on September 3, 2025. The news came as a shock to the entire community.

Ado Local Government Chairman, Engr. Sunny Oche according to a press statement e-signed by his principal private secretary, Innocent Igelle visited the family home in Makurdi to offer condolences. In a statement released by the family, Hon. Ekpiri’s passing was described as peaceful.

Engr. Oche according to the statement paid tribute to Hon. Ekpiri’s exemplary life and enduring legacy. He stated that Hon. Ekpiri left an indelible mark on Ado Local Government and Benue State, serving with distinction in several key positions, including Member of the Benue State House of Assembly (First Republic), Director of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Board Member of Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo, and Principal of Government Secondary School, Agila. His contributions to the development of the state are immeasurable.

Beyond his public service, Hon. Ekpiri was a man of unwavering faith, renowned for his humility, generosity, and commitment to his community. He was a founding father of the Rijo Day celebration, a member of the Catholic Workers Volunteer Force, and a philanthropist who supported numerous individuals through scholarships and acts of kindness. His legacy of integrity and service will continue to inspire future generations.

The Chairman described the loss of Hon. Ekpiri as deeply felt by his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire Ado Local Government community. He extended heartfelt condolences to the family during this difficult time. Funeral arrangements will be announced soon.
