The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has saluted Nigerian workers for their resilience and sacrifices, while reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to labour welfare and ongoing economic reforms.

Delivering a message to mark the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration, the APC leader praised workers across sectors for sustaining the nation’s productivity despite prevailing economic pressures, describing them as the “backbone of national development.”

The position was contained in a statement from the Office of the APC National Chairman, signed by Abimbola Tooki, who serves as Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy.

Yilwatda paid tribute to the endurance of Nigerian workers, noting that their commitment continues to drive growth and stability in the country.

“Your sacrifices, diligence, and patriotism remain the foundation upon which Nigeria’s progress is built,” he said, acknowledging the “strength and character” displayed by workers amid current economic realities.

He assured that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains focused on policies that promote the welfare, dignity, and prosperity of the workforce.

According to him, the ongoing economic reforms—ranging from fuel subsidy removal to foreign exchange unification and increased infrastructure investment—are necessary steps to reposition the economy for sustainable growth.

“These reforms are critical and inevitable steps toward building a stable and prosperous Nigeria. They are designed to stimulate productivity, attract investment, and create more opportunities for employment and wealth creation,” Yilwatda stated.

While acknowledging the short-term difficulties associated with the reforms, the APC chairman said the government is implementing targeted measures to cushion the impact on citizens.

“The sacrifices being made today are not in vain. They will lead to a more inclusive and resilient economy that benefits all Nigerians,” he added.

He further called on workers to remain united and supportive of national development efforts, stressing that collective commitment is essential to achieving long-term progress.

Yilwatda concluded by wishing Nigerian workers a fulfilling Workers’ Day celebration, expressing hope for continued strength, prosperity, and improved welfare for the nation’s labour force.
