A governorship aspirant in Adamawa State, Comrade Mustafa Saliu has expressed confidence in clinching his party’s ticket ahead of the forthcoming primaries, declaring that preparation and opportunity have positioned him strongly in the race.
Saliu, who spoke with journalists shortly after submitting his expression of interest and nomination forms under the platform of the APC, said he remains optimistic that he would emerge victorious with the support of party members and the people of the state.
“There is nothing like being absolutely sure in politics. Politics is a game of luck, and luck is preparation meeting opportunity. I am prepared, and I have the opportunity to run, so luck is on my side,” he stated.
The aspirant noted that he was fully prepared for whichever mode of primary election the party adopts, whether direct primaries or consensus arrangement.
“We are comfortable with any mode. We are prepared for both direct primaries and consensus. We are ready,” he said.
Speaking on his vision for Adamawa State, Saliu pledged to sustain and consolidate on the achievements of the current administration, stressing that many developmental projects require continuity to achieve their full impact.
“Our governor has done wonderfully well in the last seven years. There are landmark projects that cannot be completed within eight years. Some take 15 or 20 years, and these are the kinds of projects we are going to continue,” he said.
The governorship hopeful also promised to promote unity across ethnic and religious lines, insisting that sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and inclusion.
“Part of my slogan is ‘Kowanamu’ because everybody is ours. We are going to bridge the divide between tribes and religions to ensure we work together as one people. Without unity, progress becomes very slow,” he added.
On the political strength of the opposition, Saliu dismissed concerns over rival contenders, describing them as no threat to his ambition.
“We are not scared of any paper tiger,” he declared.
The aspirant further assured party supporters that his administration, if elected, would focus on accelerating development, strengthening unity, and building on existing achievements in the state.
