Ohaukwu Youths to Endorse Nwifuru for 2nd Term, Cite Peace, Human Capital Development

The Ohaukwu Youth General Assembly (OYGA) has concluded arrangements to endorse Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State for a second term in office, citing his outstanding achievements in governance, youth empowerment, education, and peacebuilding since assuming office.
The decision was made during a meeting of the assembly held at Central School, Ngbo, Ohaukwu Local Government Area, where members deliberated on the governor’s performance and unanimously adopted a motion endorsing his continuation in office beyond 2027.
The National President of the Ohaukwu Youth General Assembly, Comrade Onah Emmanuel, disclosed this while addressing journalists shortly after the meeting. He explained that the endorsement was informed by what he described as Governor Nwifuru’s impressive record of service and commitment to the welfare of the people of Ebonyi State.
According to him, one of the major reasons behind the endorsement is the governor’s investment in education and human capital development, particularly through the overseas scholarship programme that has provided opportunities for many young Ebonyians to pursue Master’s and PhD degrees in reputable universities across different countries.
Comrade Onah noted that a significant number of beneficiaries of the scholarship scheme are indigenes of Ohaukwu Local Government Area, adding that the initiative has not only expanded educational opportunities for youths but has also positioned them to contribute meaningfully to the development of the state upon completion of their studies.
The youth leader also commended Governor Nwifuru for the relative peace and stability currently being enjoyed across Ebonyi State. He particularly highlighted the government’s intervention in the long-standing Effium and Ezza-Effium communal crisis, describing the restoration of peace in the area as one of the administration’s greatest achievements.
He stated that the return of normalcy to the affected communities has revived economic activities, strengthened social cohesion, and restored confidence among residents who had previously been displaced or affected by the conflict.
Comrade Onah further maintained that the endorsement was based on the governor’s track record in both peacebuilding and human capital development.
He argued that under Nwifuru’s leadership, Ebonyi has continued to enjoy stability and progress, making the state one of the most peaceful in the country.
He therefore called on Ohaukwu youths, especially those with grievances or differing opinions, to avoid actions capable of creating division among the people.
He urged them to embrace unity and support initiatives that promote development, stressing that Governor Nwifuru has met all the criteria established by the Ohaukwu Youth General Assembly for endorsement and continued support.
