The Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has called on stakeholders in Nigeria’s printing industry to put aside past differences and embrace unity, reconciliation and collaboration to reposition the sector for sustainable growth, improved professionalism and global competitiveness.
The Minister made the call on Tuesday at the Nigeria Print Industry Stakeholders’ Summit 2026, held at the Nikon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, where he described the recent resolution of the leadership crisis within the Chartered Institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria (CIPPON) as a turning point for the industry.
The development was contained in a press release issued by the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation (FMINO) and signed by the Special Assistant (Media) to the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Rabiu Ibrahim, mnipr.
Addressing participants at the summit, themed “From Resolution to Renaissance,” Idris urged members of the printing profession to take advantage of the newfound peace to advance the industry’s collective interests.
“History has given you an opportunity to reposition this industry. Please seize it, work together, and let everyone support the leadership so that collectively you can move the profession forward,” the Minister said.
The Minister disclosed that one of the first issues brought to his attention upon assuming office was the prolonged leadership dispute within CIPPON, noting that his intervention was guided by the belief that dialogue and cooperation would serve the industry better than protracted litigation.
Describing the printing industry as a sector with enormous economic value and significant job creation potential, Idris said a united industry would be better positioned to attract government support and policy interventions.
He assured practitioners of the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting legitimate initiatives aimed at strengthening professional standards, improving the operating environment and increasing the industry’s contribution to national development.
“The sector will be better positioned to attract government support and policy interventions when stakeholders speak with one voice,” he stated.
The Minister also charged the leadership of CIPPON to adopt an inclusive approach by carrying every stakeholder along, irrespective of previous disagreements.
According to him, inclusive leadership would foster lasting peace and leave behind a legacy that would strengthen the profession for future generations.
Idris further reaffirmed the commitment of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation to supporting the institute’s efforts to build a stronger, more innovative and globally competitive printing industry.
He also encouraged practitioners to embrace technological innovation to remain relevant in an increasingly digital global economy.
Earlier, the President and Chairman of the Governing Council of CIPPON, Mr. Koko T. Clement, said the institute had made remarkable progress since the inauguration of the current Governing Council in December 2025.
He disclosed that the institute had engaged key government institutions to strengthen professional standards, improve industry regulation and promote policies capable of accelerating the growth of Nigeria’s printing industry.
“Everything we do is for the growth of this Institute, for the benefit of every printer, every packaging professional, and every Nigerian who depends on this industry. We call on all stakeholders to work together in peace and mutual understanding so that what unites us remains greater than whatever may divide us,” Clement said.
The summit attracted leading figures from the printing and packaging industry, including the Chief Executive Officer of KA2 Press Limited, Engr. Michael Akinola; the company’s Managing Director, Mr. Ademola Kasumu; the Registrar of CIPPON, Mallam Abubakar Ndagi; senior officials of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, and other stakeholders committed to advancing Nigeria’s printing industry.
