APC Arms Campaign With Kankia’s Legal Expertise Ahead of 2027 Election Battle

As the battle for Nigeria’s 2027 presidency gathers momentum, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has moved to strengthen the legal architecture of its campaign, deploying its National Legal Adviser, Barrister Murtala Aliyu Kankia, to serve as Secretary, Legal, in the party’s newly constituted Presidential Campaign Council.
Kankia’s appointment places one of the APC’s principal legal officers at the heart of the ruling party’s presidential campaign structure, giving the legal department a strategic role in navigating electoral regulations, campaign compliance, disputes and other legal challenges that may arise before, during and after the 2027 elections.
The development is part of the APC’s broader effort to assemble a nationwide campaign machinery capable of coordinating its political, mobilisation, communications, security and legal operations across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The campaign council is being structured under the leadership of former Zamfara State Governor and Senator, Abdulaziz Yari, who has been named Director-General, with other senior party figures assigned responsibilities across key operational departments.
Kankia’s emergence as Secretary, Legal is particularly significant because he simultaneously serves as the APC’s National Legal Adviser, a position that gives him institutional responsibility for the party’s legal affairs, constitutional matters and interpretation of its rules.
