The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, has challenged members of the Project Implementation Task Team (PITT) to turn their newly acquired Artificial Intelligence skills into measurable improvements in research, productivity, reporting and service delivery.

The charge was contained in a statement issued by the Head of Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Interior, Mrs. Mary Ali, ANIPR, following the conclusion of a five-day intensive “AI Zero to Hero” training programme organised for PITT members at Digital Bridge, Utako, Abuja.

Ajani said the real value of the training would be determined not by the completion of assignments or receipt of certificates, but by the ability of participants to apply their knowledge to their daily responsibilities and produce evidence-based reports and analytical assessments.

She noted that the participants, having been exposed to relevant digital and AI tools, were now better equipped to independently conduct research, analyse activities and identify areas requiring improvement within their respective departments and PITT sub-committees.

The Permanent Secretary urged the officers to take greater initiative in their areas of responsibility rather than waiting for instructions before conducting constructive research and analysis on issues relevant to their work.

According to her, the ultimate objective of the programme was to translate acquired knowledge into tangible improvements in productivity, efficiency and service delivery across the Ministry.

Ajani also encouraged the participants to share their newly acquired knowledge with colleagues, stressing that continuous knowledge transfer would expand the number of officers capable of effectively deploying emerging technologies in the public service.

She cautioned the trainees against treating the five-day programme as the end of their learning journey, urging them to continue building their capacity, exploring new AI applications and improving their proficiency with digital tools.

The Permanent Secretary further emphasised the long-term professional value of digital competencies, noting that the knowledge and skills acquired could remain useful to officers both during and beyond their careers in the public service.

Ajani tasked the participants to distinguish themselves through competence, professionalism, initiative and readiness to undertake meaningful assignments, stressing that professional reputation is built over time through the quality and impact of work delivered.

She said, “The value of this training goes beyond the completion of assignments and the receipt of certificates. What matters is your ability to apply what you have learnt to improve your work and contribute meaningfully to the Ministry.”

The Permanent Secretary commended the organisers, facilitators, Zimedy Services and the participants for their commitment to the programme.

She directed the trainees to complete their assignments and, more importantly, demonstrate the practical impact of their newly acquired AI and digital skills through their work.

Ajani expressed confidence that the training would contribute to strengthening innovation, productivity and evidence-based decision-making within the Ministry of Interior.
