TCN Unveils Anti-Corruption Policy, Strengthens Push for Transparency and Accountability

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has unveiled a new Anti-Corruption Policy Document aimed at strengthening ethical conduct, transparency, accountability and integrity across the power transmission company.
The development was contained in a statement on the unveiling held on September 22, 2026, at TCN’s Corporate Headquarters, Maitama, Abuja, as part of efforts by the Company’s Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) to reinforce institutional safeguards against corrupt practices.
The TCN Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz, represented by the Executive Director, Human Resources and Corporate Services, Mrs. Abiodun Afolabi-Fadahunsi, described the policy as a significant step towards reinforcing the Company’s commitment to ethical standards and zero tolerance for corruption.
Abdulaziz stressed that “TCN’s credibility depends not only on what it achieves but also on how it achieves it,” urging employees to familiarise themselves with the provisions of the policy and ensure that its principles guide their daily decisions and conduct.
He commended the ACTU and other stakeholders involved in developing the document, noting that its objective goes beyond preventing corrupt practices to promoting “a culture of honesty, fairness, accountability, transparency, and professionalism.” He also called on staff to support its effective implementation in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Earlier, the Chairman of ACTU, TCN, Mrs. E. Benibo, said the unveiling was more than the presentation of a policy document, describing it as a demonstration of the collective commitment of management and staff to strengthening integrity and accountability. She warned that corruption “weakens institutions, undermines trust, and wastes valuable resources,” stressing that combating the menace requires the commitment of every member of staff.
Presenting an overview of the policy, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) representative and ACTU Desk Officer attached to TCN, Mrs. Monsurat Ajoke Ifeajika, said the document would help influence conduct, guide institutional decisions and strengthen internal systems. She explained that the policies provide guidance on “preventing, detecting, reporting, and responding to unethical and corrupt practices.”
The highlight of the event was the formal unveiling of the Anti-Corruption Policy Document, with TCN management and stakeholders reiterating the need for sustained adherence to ethical standards as the Company works to strengthen transparency, accountability and public confidence in Nigeria’s power transmission system.
