The Executive Chairman of Ado Local Government Council, Hon. Engr. Oche Sunday Oche, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to people-centred governance while urging young people in the area to embrace digital skills, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotics as Nigeria marks its 66th Independence Anniversary.

The Chairman’s message was contained in an Independence Day statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communication, Alex Ogbanje, on behalf of the Ado Local Government Council.

Oche described the anniversary as an important opportunity to reflect on Nigeria’s journey since independence and renew collective commitment to building a peaceful, united, prosperous and progressive nation.

He acknowledged the sacrifices of Nigeria’s founding fathers and other patriots who contributed to the country’s independence, stressing that the responsibility for building a better Nigeria now rests on present and future generations.

The Chairman said his administration remained focused on programmes aimed at improving the lives and prospects of residents, particularly through security, infrastructure development, accessible healthcare, economic empowerment and human capital development.

A major focus of the Chairman’s message was youth development, with Oche stressing that education must extend beyond conventional classroom learning to include practical digital skills, technological knowledge and exposure to emerging fields shaping the modern economy.

In line with this vision, he called on students and young people across Ado Local Government to take advantage of the free Digital Skills, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Training Programme provided by the council.

The programme, according to the Chairman, is designed for secondary school students across the five districts of Ado Local Government, offering practical exposure to artificial intelligence, robotics and drones, basic computer applications, web and graphic design, and digital content creation.

“The future of Ado Local Government and Nigeria depends substantially on the quality of opportunities provided to the younger generation today,” Oche said.

He described the training programme as a deliberate investment in the next generation, designed to produce a digitally competent and technologically aware population capable of adapting to an increasingly technology-driven economy.

The Chairman urged parents, teachers, school authorities and community leaders to support eligible students and encourage them to participate fully, noting that early exposure to digital technology, AI and robotics could provide a foundation for further education, entrepreneurship, employment and innovation.

Oche also reaffirmed his administration’s alignment with the development agenda of Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, and support for the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly in human capital development, economic opportunity and improved living conditions.

He assured residents that the council would continue to pursue practical policies and programmes aimed at promoting inclusive development, creating opportunities for young people, strengthening communities and delivering tangible improvements in the lives of residents.

The Chairman also called on the people of Ado to remain committed to peace, unity, hard work, responsible citizenship and collective development, expressing optimism that sustained investment in people, education, technology, infrastructure and economic opportunities would strengthen the council’s contribution to the development of Benue State and Nigeria.

Oche, on behalf of the government and people of Ado Local Government Area, wished Nigerians a peaceful, meaningful and joyous 66th Independence Anniversary.
